The Comic Wallah has taken a new initiative to fill your day with laughter. The excellent effort of the team has received a great success amongst the audiences. The new launched video on youtube ‘Naach Na Shaane’ has impressed people as well. Let’s have a look on Slim Shetty & Captain Fuse’s work so far through this conversation below!
What drew you to the music industry?
Slim: Always been part of the music industry since I was born.. Parents listened to Music, Grew up to buy Cassettes, Worked at Planet M for 6 Years selling some of the biggest albums, Got myself a diploma in sound engineering so I could start creating music & after working with the biggest radio brands in the country, was hungry for more and create something original after Mawali Bhai. That is when the collab between Captain and Me started to build and boom Naach na Shaane came to life.
Fuse: Believing in the music which I make and to take indian music to the world.
Who are you inspired by?
Slim: Inspired by daily life, Inspired by the voice on the street, inspired by all the comedy around us . Seems like the world is getting too serious and I thought we could bring in some chill & funny vibes into the scene.
Fuse: I’m inspired by various artist in every genre but in electronic music it’s skrillex.
Please explain your creative process behind ‘Naach Na Shaane’?
Slim: Two people passionate about something, passionate about saying something ..bringing a new vibe, a happy vibe to the scene..Capatian and I got the initial skeleton of the song down in 10 mins over some beers but the real process of fine tuning and getting it up to our satisfaction took a good 6 months. It was a great learning process for both of us and everyone who helped us achieve this small dream.
Fuse: It was just me and mawaali jamming to the beat and thought of goin apeshit with this track and it the song was structured in like an hour and it was just a few lines earlier but then kirthi wrote two verses to make it even better, the moment kirthi heard the beat his first words were “naach na shaane” and that became the hook of the song.
What’s an average day like for you?
Slim: I’m the Creative Director at Saavn. Most days are spent conjuring up new audio shows with a really talented and dedicated team. Other than that it’s about gym, motorbikes and chilling at home.
Fuse: Just like every other human being but working on music is something that comes a lot by observing your surroundings and people.
Is there a hidden meaning in any of your music videos?
Slim: We had to crack this video real fast. Big Thank you to The Dharavi Project for their big support Ishq Bector for directing this gem, Malishka for agreeing to be in our video and The comic wallah guys support throughout. This video was just to show that dancing can release negative energy. That is what we wanted to show with Malishka’s character that is the principal in the video. So message is pretty clear don’t be upset…Naach Na Shaane.
Fuse: Not at all, it’s pure madness and a dozen of talented kids with mad skills.
Do you collaborate with others? What is that process?
Slim: The first song I did was with Sachin Jigar for Haseena Parkar & they were the ones who gave me the confidence that I could do something like this. Collaborations really happen when like minded people meet. It cannot be forced or duplicated. Eminem was only great after he met Dre..before that he was good but no one cared.. but Dre made him the Eminem we know of today, and I think that is the key. When things flow naturally they’re beautiful.
Fuse: Collaborating is always fun, cause you learn so much more and ideas keep adding in, if two minds are thinking over the same idea and vibes match it’s about time to collaborate.
Please discuss how you interact with and respond to fans?
Slim: I don’t think I have any ..I’m a fan of so many artists like Lucky Ali, Indian Ocean and I really admire what Divine, Prabhdeep have done for the Hip Hop scene in the country . The time is right to make some intersting content . When I do have fans, hopefully soon, I would like to interact with everyone.
Fuse: Fans are like family, supporting you through your journey is biggest thing for an artist and for me to give them the best and make it up to their expectation. I Appreciate everyone for the love and belief
What is your favourite part about this video?
Slim: Fav Part in vid- It’s gotta be when Malishka breaks into a dance and the phenomenal kids from The Dharavi Project breaking & bboying across the video.
Fuse: The kids from the dharavi project, they’re killing it
