The music producer and artist Patrick Mazara, who is mostly known as Zara616 are back with some compelling instrumental tracks in his latest album ‘Zara, You Making Grease Again 2- EP’. He is a music producer who has worked with various well-established musicians. His talents and his musical merit are something that should be appreciated by each and every one. Being from Grand Rapids, Michigan, he always found his passion for music in every form and color.
Congratulations on your recent EP, it was purely ecstatic to witness the music from it. We will look forward to more songs from you. The magnitude of the instrumental pieces is very refreshing.
1. Zara616, your musical craft is extremely gravitating, and what has been the inspiration for your music journey?
A. My inspiration has really just been my love for music. I initially had started off as a musician but beats had gravitated towards me and I began producing shorty after. I really love how music has no limit to it so you can always grow. Whether it’s by working on your wordplay or trying different genres, music has no limit.
2. What is the first memory you have of music?
A. As a kid, definitely dancing to Chris Brown and
rapping to Lil Wayne until I learned the song word for word is definitely where my love for music began. As for producing it was when I initially started off. I’d be watching my friend Pablo616 cook up and would just be amazed watching nothing turn into something. The ability to express myself by just clicking in patterns and choosing the right sounds fascinated me.
3. Which instrument or series of instruments do you prefer to play the most?
A. Piano. I actually recommend to producers that they begin their melodies with the piano and then choose their sounds because the piano is such a simple yet amazing instrument. I also love the guitar, harps, and any kind of strings.
4. You are an extremely good musician but you are willing to pursue your career as a music producer, why is that? Is there any particular reason behind this decision?
A. I naturally was more driven towards beats because there are so many ways to express yourself and it’s validating to have someone choose your beat out of the millions of beats that exist. I still love free styling but I just don’t get the thrill I get from beats when recording a song.
5. Which track of yours do you admire the most?
A. At the moment it’s actually an unreleased song with Baby Smoove that I coproduced along side OkayJones and Brian313.
6. You have shared your fondness for the hip-hop genre; can you share a name or names with whom you are utterly eager to work?
A. I’d love to work with Lil Baby, Drake, Baby Money, Kehlani, Brent Faiyaz, and Babyface Ray to name a few.
7. As a music producer will you be only indulging in the hip-hop genre or other genres will be produced by the company?
A. I definitely look into getting into R&B, Pop, and Dancehall/Afrobeats for sure.
8. You are associated with a production team called ‘Grease’, is this the reason your album name ‘Zara, You Making Grease Again 2- EP’, has the word in it?
A. Yes, but it’s also a reference to my producer tag which says “Zara, you making grease again”
9. In the future will you make videos of the songs or are you only going to stick with making audio tracks?
I actually like the surprise of just producing and finding out the artist has released a video but I do plan on directing or editing a video I produced at some point in my career.
10. What is the vision you are willing to build in the future as a music producer?
A. As a producer, I really just want to motivate others to keep grinding. When I initially started producing I thought it was gonna be easy placements, easy money but it’s so much more than that. There are contracts and agreements, chances that your work gets stolen and even then there are producers that make it and aren’t known for it because they don’t put themselves out there. My goal is to put knowledge out there that’ll help guide other producers into learning the game while also furthering my grasp in all genres of music.
11. What are the new projects you are working on right now?
A. I’m currently working on songs with Skilla Baby, Baby Money, and YN Jay to name a few. As for myself I plan on dropping a compilation tape sometime this year executively produced by me featuring my favorite local artists.
12. Say some dedicating your fans.
A. Keep going, if it was easy everybody would do it. You gotta push even when you don’t want to and try the things you haven’t been trying to get the results you want. Invest in your craft and network as much as you can because your network is your net worth. Don’t sit on your talent and get as much exposure as you can to contribute to your growth early on.
