The 56-th Academy of Country Music Awards this year made history and the details have been revealed! On Sunday night, the celebrated awards show function recognized several top artists in the country as well as other emerging artists who are striving to make it big in the industry.
The prestigious awards show nominated four Black artists, which is supposedly the most yet, and includes Kane Brown, Jimmie Allen, co-host Mickey Guyton, and the first-time nominee John Legend. The award for the Entertainer of the Year was given away to Luke Bryan, who accepted the award virtually after being tested positive for the COVID-19. Maren Morris took home the award for being the Female Artist of the Year while Thomas Rhett bagged the Male Artist of the Year.
Allen became the first-ever musician, Black, to win the New Male Artist of the Year and similarly Brown made history after he won the first-ever Black solo artist to steal the ACM video of the Year award.
With six nods each, Chris Stapleton and Marren Moris led the nominations category, followed by Miranda Lamber who followed closely with five counts, giving her a total of 68 nominations so far in her career, the most that any female in the ACM Awards has ever received!
The show was hosted by Guyton and Keith Urban and was held across three iconic Country music venues, including Nashville’s historic Ryman Auditorium, the Grand Ole Opry House, and the Bluebird café. The stunning performances took place at locations around the city, for example in the Bridge Building, the Station Inn, and on Broadway.
