Ed Sheeran is taking his soundscape to a whole new level with his upcoming collaboration with the English extreme metal band Cradle Of Filth. He recently talked about his love for the genre and the band during his younger years in a chap up with The Sun. The band’s singer Dani Filth posted a screenshot of Sheeran’s quote on his Instagram as soon as he learned about it. He wrote that he will believe in it when he sees a collaboration happening. He also made a reference to Sheeran’s ‘Castle on the Hill’ in the caption. And according to him, the artists are now emailing each other for a possible collaboration.
Dani said in his interview with Kerrang! Radio that he is in contact with Sheeran through emails. They are right now trying to come up with a schedule to work together. He revealed that Sheeran invited him to his house. And Sheeran had also expressed his wish to come to his place. He further suggested meeting up at Sherran’s place. He called Sheeran a ‘genuinely very nice guy’ and said he is a massive fan of his band and their work. Sheeran is willing to do anything for the collaboration.
Dani was also asked about his thoughts on how the fans of Cradle Of Filth might react hearing about their collaboration with the pop artist. He said that if they are told to not do something they are more inclined to do it. He said it has always been their prerogative. He collaborated with a band Twiztid in America for a rap song once. He said it was closer to a Rammstein and Beastie Boys song than an authentic rap song. So, he thinks this new collaboration with Sheeran will be fun. He wishes to do it for charity to add some credibility to it.
He acknowledged the fact that both his and Sheeran’s fan bases are completely different. And it will be a completely new thing for them. He thinks that the contrast between their musical elements and styles will be great as these types of things are trendy nowadays.
Cradle Of Filth will be releasing a brand new album, ‘Existence Is Futile’ in October. The band has dropped the first single from the album, ‘Crawling King Chaos’ recently. And Sheeran has recently released a new single ‘Bad Habits’ and co-written the song ‘Permission to Dance’ by BTS.
