Due to the prevailing pandemic situation and the chaos surrounding the world, nay musicians have taken a step backward to release their music. There are a few who have postponed and then there are a few who are called it off. And now it sounds like, fans have to wait a little longer as Adele might now be releasing her next album in the coming year.
The speculation revolving around this subject started when Adele took to her Instagram account on October 28 to post a lengthy thanksgiving paragraph acknowledging her Saturday Night Love crew, that followed her appearance as the US show’s guest host last weekend.
It was only at the end of the caption that the iconic singer stated that she is all set to be back to her cave now and be the single cat lady that she is. She concluded her post by saying Peace out till next year, which suggested that she is in no hurry to release a new record until at least 2021.
This revelation comes forward after Adele had also given an update on the follow up to ‘25’ during her SNL stint on October 24.
It was during her opening monologue that Adele had openly explained as to why she was featured as the show’s host and not as the musical guest, a role that was thereby assumed by H.E.R instead.
In the show, Adele had told the audience that her album is reportedly not finished yet and that she is also too scared to be both. And, to further lament her point she added that she would rather put on some wigs and have a glass of wine or six, and just let things flow on their own.
It was somewhere else in the show that the diva had played a medley of songs during one of the show’s sketches that included a tongue-in-the-cheek take on The Bachelor which saw Adele performing When We Were Young, Hello, and Rolling In The Deep.
However, the show had received criticism over a controversial sketch in which Adele along with series regular Kate McKinnon was seen playing white divorcees who were lusting over African men.
To address the instance, Vibe journalist Shenequa Golding commented that on the skit saying that it was a tone def, insensitive, and inappropriate presentation given the current EndSARS protests going on around the continent.
She had further written that several men and women in Nigeria, South Africa, Namibia, and The Democratic Republic of the Congo are now struggling for their lives and to bring down the continent as a mere sexual destination for white women is shameful.
However, it has already been five long years since Adele had released her last album and this shocking revelation about the 31-year-old going to drop her new release in 2021 is surely going to dishearten her fans all around.
