Every week Billboard’s music poll comes up with some new music with the choice of the listeners and this week, the top spot is acquired by Anitta as she got 53% of the total votes. Her latest musical project, ‘Funk Generation: A Favela Love Story’ tops the weekly poll which was published on August 18.
‘Funk Generation: A Favela Love Story’ is a carioca funk trilogy that is putting everyone behind the game as it took more than the half votes alone. New music from other artists like Quavo, Hozier, Addison Rae, and many others together made up the rest of 47%.
This three-track musical collection has been released under the label of Republic Records/Universal Music Latin Entertainment. The Brazilian superstar has established a stronger foundation with this project by going back to “Funk Rave,” and also two fresh and powerful singles namely ‘Used to Be’ and ‘Casi Casi’. This is the first project released under Republic Records since April when she last sang for the label. The songs have also been released with accompanying official music videos.
While ‘Funk Generation: A Favela Love Story’ creates a huge buzz among the listeners, ‘Unreal Unearth’ by Hozier and ‘AR EP’ by Addison Rae stay behind with just only 10% of the vote for each. Quavo’s ‘Rocket Power’ is only at 3% and the same goes for the ‘Cupid Twin Ver.’, a musical creation by FIFTY FIFTY featuring Sabrina Carpenter.
The latest three-track bundle is being another milestone on Anitta’s progressive musical journey. Her musical creations embrace the Brazilian working-class culture and that is noticeable in her music videos as well. The salacious visual treatment along with the Brazilian crowd with funk and swag does not fail to captivate the music lovers around the globe.
Anitta likes to dabble among English, Spanish, and Portuguese which makes her work more exciting and dynamic without putting any lingual barrier to it. Talking about the project, the Brazilian star said, “In this project, I dive into carioca funk. The rhythm that raised me and is part of the culture from where I was born.” She further added, “In the visuals, there is a lot of what I’ve experienced in the favelas. Apart from international producers, I made a point of bringing Brazilians to this incredible team. Their contribution was essential.”
