Oscar-winning music composer AR Rahman is best known around the world for his diversified contributions to music. However, this time, the artist came up with some emotional words that he wanted to express after separating from his wife, Saira Banu.
It had been nearly thirty years, yet they could not complete the 30th anniversary. Rahman shared a post on X on Wednesday in which he said that “they had hoped to reach the grand thirty.” He also called it a fragile chapter of life and mentioned that “in this shattering, we seek meaning.”
AR Rahman wrote, “We had hoped to reach the grand thirty, but all things, it seems, carry an unseen end. Even the throne of God might tremble at the weight of broken hearts. Yet, in this shattering, we seek meaning, though the pieces may not find their place again.” He also shared his gratitude and wrote “To our friends, thank you for your kindness and for respecting our privacy as we walk through this fragile chapter.” The usage of the hashtag ARR Sairaa Breakup shows the true potential of social media.
Similarly, their daughter Khatija Rahman also shared her thoughts on Instagram and said, “I would greatly appreciate it if this matter could be treated with the utmost privacy and respect. Thank you for your consideration.” Their son Ameen asked for privacy and said, “We kindly request everyone to respect our privacy during this time. Thank you for your understanding”. It truly shows how the whole family has fallen apart.
AR Rahman and Saira Banu got married in 1995 and they hoped they would spend 30 years together however; they could only make it to 29. This can be considered as a mature decision between adults which should respected by all fans around the world.
Their lawyer Vandana Shah shared that this decision came after “significant emotional strain in their relationship”. Shah also added, “Despite their deep love for each other, the couple has found that the tensions and difficulties have created an insurmountable gap between them, one that neither party feels able to bridge at this time.”
The joint statement also reads “After many years of marriage, Saira and her husband, A R. Rahman, have made the difficult decision to separate from each other.” It seems like Rahman has given it a good thought before reaching this climax.
