Renowned drummer Chad Smith’s daughter Ava Maybee gave audition for the American Idol season 20. She got qualified and made it to the Hollywood round.
‘American Idol’ season 20 auditions got shut on Sunday. On the last day of the audition, the singing reality show got to see another contestant of musical lineage.
The 20 years old girl, Ava Maybee daughter of the drummer of Red Hot Chili Peppers, Chad Smith came for the audition.
During the audition, the contestant didn’t mention anything about her father, and stunned the judges by singing Stevie Wonder’s ‘Lately’.
After her performance, Katy Perry commented ‘It’s a cool alto sound’.
Along with Katy other judges also was impressed by her exceptional performance. And the judge Luke Bryan said, ‘I do feel like you’re an artist. I’m interested to hear and see more of what you’ve got going on’.
Judge Lionel Richie joked about her surname Maybee and said ‘I’m going to go against your family. You’re not going to be a Maybee, you’re going to be a For Sure’ finally pronounced ‘yes’.
Ava got ‘yes’ from all the judges and made it to the next stage.
Ava Maybee, the talented singer is blessed to have a father like Chad Smith, who shares her daughter’s work with thousands of followers of him. Not only this but this young singer has already garnered 935000 streams on Spotify. With dedication and talent, the artist started working on her career. She started singing at the age of five, and since then she has been singing.

Judges have been immensely impressed by her previous works and her audition, Luke Bryan said, ‘I do feel like you’re an artist. I’m interested to hear and see more of what you’ve got going on’.
So far the judges didn’t get to know about her father, but it didn’t happen earlier with contestant Grace Franklin granddaughter of Aretha Franklin.
Maybee, a college student of NYU will now head to the Hollywood round and try out her luck if she makes it or not.
She wanted to make her name with her own talent and with the fame of his father. That is why she didn’t disclose her full name to the judges. Certainly, she got succeeded. She qualified for the next round with her pure talent.
