Beyoncé breaking some records and hitting the top charts is nothing new for the fans. However, her latest album ‘Cowboy Carter’ is perhaps the biggest debut of 2024 till now. This year has already witnessed multiple globally hit projects, the Cowboy project has literally snatched the top spot from other artists like Taylor Swift and many others.
Released on March 29, it has already sold more than 407,000 equivalent album units which puts Beyoncé in the top place on the topper chart. It is the highest-grossing album currently, other than Taylor Swift’s “1989 (Taylor’s Version),” which sold 1.653 million units since November after its release. However, Beyoncé’s album made significant progress within just a week. It is the biggest streaming week for the artist.
In 2016, Beyoncé became the first Black woman to debut at No. 1 on the Top Country Albums chart for her hit album project ‘Lemonade’. The album sold over 653,000 units.
Currently, it is the best sales week for a country album since Taylor Swift’s July release ‘Speak Now’ which sold over 716,000 units. When it comes to the numbers, 232,000 units from ‘Cowboy Carter’s 407,000 units are attributed to streaming equivalent albums. The album has already gathered around 300.41 million official streams on the major platforms.
The traditional album sale has encompassed 168,000 units along with a total of 7000 track equivalent albums. There are also four limited edition vinyl for the album which sold over 62,000 copies. It is Beyoncé’s biggest sales week and also for the format of Vinyl as it’s the largest sale for any vinyl released in 2024. However, fans also noticed that the vinyl editions do not consist of 5 songs that are added online, which means they can only be streamed.
When it comes to the chart toppers, Beyoncé currently has eight No.1 albums on the Billboard 200. It puts her one a tie with Janet Jackson and also makes her the fourth-most topper among women music artists. There is Madonna with 9 albums, Barbra Streisand with 11, and at the top, there is Taylor Swift with 12.

On the top chart, there is also “We Don’t Trust You” by Future and Metro Boomin, featuring on the 2nd spot with more than 131,000 equivalent album units. And then there is Morgan Wallen at no. 3 with “One Thing at a Time.”
There is no doubt that Beyoncé’s “Renaissance” trilogy project is remarkable but what put it at the top is the. ‘Cowboy’.
