The ‘Princess of Pop’ Britney Spears‘s latest memoir, the pop star finally revealed that she was shattered after Justin Timberlake released ‘Cry Me a River‘ a few days after Spears confirmed the split officially. The hit song features who looks similar to Spears, and was seen cheating on Timberlake. While he walks around with his broken heart in the rain singing of her unfaithfulness, the phenomenal musician confirmed after a decade that his split with Spears inspired him to create the track. But now the table has turned for Spears as she got the chance finally to share her side of the story.
Spears recalls the backlash she had to experience because of her song getting the immense success. She wrote, ‘In the news media, I was described as a harlot who’d broken the heart of America’s golden boy,’
She went on describing the heartache she went through after her split, ‘The truth: I was comatose in Louisiana, and he was happily running around Hollywood,’
However, she admits that she cheated on Timberlake with Wade Robson, choreographer in her memoir but went on accusing Timberlake of cheating on her several times throughout their relationship.
She further wrote, ‘But I was shattered,’ continues, ‘Everyone felt very sorry for him. And it shamed me. I felt there was no way at the time to tell my side of the story. I couldn’t explain, because I knew no one would take my side once Justin had convinced the world of his version.’ Added, ‘I don’t think Justin realized the power he had in shaming me. I don’t think he understands to this day,’
In her memoir ‘Woman in Me’, she explained her feelings after her breakup with Timberlake that she was hurt pretty bad because she was losing her family. Writes, ‘Part of what made that period so difficult is that Justin’s family had been the only real, loving family I had,’ continue writing, ‘For holidays, the only family I would go to was his. I knew his grandmother and his grandfather, and I loved them so much. I thought of them as home.’
The American singer comments that her ex-flame did not understand that he had shamed her with his super hit song ‘Cry Me a River.’ She stated that sort of understood that ‘the thought of my betraying him gave the album more angst, gave it a purpose: s—-talking about an unfaithful woman … The only problem with the narrative was that, in our case, it wasn’t like that.’
The magnificent pop star also described how it was difficult for her to deal with the break-up, saying, ‘I felt there was no way at the time to tell my side of the story,’ moreover added, ‘I couldn’t explain, because I knew no one would take my side once Justin had convinced the world of his version. I don’t think Justin realized the power he had in shaming me. I don’t think he understands to this day.’
