BTS’ Jimin Announces New Single ‘Closer Than This’: A Gift For Fans

Jimin surely knows how to take his fans by surprise!! As the year is ending and the season of giving is upon people, BTS’ Jimin also has something special to give to his fans, his new single. The global superstar and member of the biggest boy band announced that he is releasing a brand new single ‘Closer Than This’ arriving just in time for Christmas. His management company BigHit Music announced on Wednesday, December 20, 2023, that he will be releasing a solo single on December 22.

As if this announcement is not good enough for the ARMYs to make them emotional, the music label also dropped a video featuring Jimin teasing the song with none other than another ARMY sweetheart, V. BigHit Music announced that Jimin’s digital single ‘Closer Than This’ is arriving on the auspicious occasion of Christmas and soon it will be available for the ARMYs to celebrate together with their favorite idol. All set to drop on December 22nd, at 2 p.m KST, this song is described as a heartfelt song for the fans by the label that perfectly captures Jimin’s genuine feelings and gratitude for ARMYs.

Sharing the news on Weverse, BigHit concluded the message by saying, “As we approach the final days of 2023, we hope that ‘Closer Than This,’ with its lyrics conveying Jimin’s love and affection for his fans, will bring you hope and warmth.” The label also teased part of the song on Instagram where in the clip Jimin can be seen dancing with a bunch of backup dancers to the preppy beats of the track. At the end of this clip, V made a special appearance, teasing the audience even more. The duo showed off the messages written for their fans in the studio mirror.  “Don’t worry, I’ll catch you soon. I’ll be back. I love you so much, don’t get sick and stay happy,” the sweet messages read.

The song announcement comes right after it was announced that Jimin along with his three other bandmates, Jungkook, V, and RM has started their process of enlisting in the South Korean army. Jin, Suga, and J-Hope have also previously begun their mandatory serving in the military. According to South Korean law, all able-bodied men must serve in the military of the country for 18-21 months.

Previously this year, Jimin also dropped his first solo EP ‘Face’ which upon release, peaked no. 2 on the Billboard 200 chart. One of the singles from the project ‘Like Crazy’ also topped the charts of Billboard Hot 100 in April, making the singer’s first No. 1 hit.
