BTS’ RM has officially released his second solo album. He is now an album soloist, but two times over. The K-pop sensations’ second album ‘Right Place, Wrong Person‘ was released on May 24th Friday which brings 11 brand new tracks for fans to enjoy amid their sorrow for the band’s military obligations. The album is led by the single ‘Come Back to Me’ and has already gotten pretty positive reviews from fans who are stunned to see such artistic growth and maturity in their favorite BTS rapper. The album also features alternative-based songs, ‘Nuts,’ ‘Groin,’ ‘Heaven,’ ‘LOST!’ and more.
Overall, ‘Right Place, Wrong Person’ reflects a “raw and honest presentation of RM’s distinctive sensibility, aesthetics, and beliefs,” according to the BigHit release. This LP follows the South Korean rapper-singer’s 2022 debut album Indigo, which reached the no. 3 spot on the Billboard 200 upon release. Leading up to the official release of his second LP, Kim Nam-joon, professionally known as RM, revealed several concept photos to get his fans excited about what was coming. According to another official release statement, this latest artwork is meant to capture the South Korean rapper and songwriter as an “ordinary individual in relatable, everyday settings, enjoying moments of freedom — a departure from the glamorous persona he embodies on stage.”
The concept photos directly reflect the material Namjoon unveiled on ‘Right Place Wrong Person’, which captures the BTS singer-dancer’s feelings of “being an outsider who doesn’t fit in,” as published in Weverse’s album announcement in April. According to the media outlets, “LOST!” will serve as the title track from RM’s new album ‘Right Place, Wrong Person’. The audience’s reaction to the LP release has been positive and they cannot stop gushing over the quality of the production along with the raw and emotive lyrics that the rapper presented. One user on Twitter wrote, “The album Right Place, Wrong Person begins with Namjoon asking himself: What if I hadn’t followed this path, how would I be living today?” THE PEN THAT THIS ONE WROTE! GIANT, THIS IS GIANT”.
Boasting about how the album is already doing numbers on the digital charts around the world, one X (Formerly Twitter) user wrote, “
ALL THE SONGS OF THE RIGHT PLACE WRONG PERSON ARE CHARTING INSIDE THE HOT100 DE MELON IN KOREA, OMG😭.” Another user commented, “”Right Place, Wrong Person” by #RM reached #1 🔥on India iTunes Albums chart! 🇮🇳” while another post declared, “📊 iTunes US #3. Right Place, Wrong Person (+5)”. RM and his BTS bandmates Jin, SUGA, J-Hope, Jimin, V, and Jung Kook are currently serving in the military of South Korea, which makes it mandatory for all able-bodied men over 18 years for military enlistment before they are 28. The full group is planning to reconvene for band activities in 2025.
