It is a good day for the Bardi Gang. Cardi B has just shared some exciting news regarding her long-awaited sophomore album. The rapper has just teased another snippet on her Instagram story on Monday, July 1st, Cardi’s sophomore album is said to be released by the end of 2024. This newly shared clip by the artist finds Cardi showcasing a rather soft side in contrast to her otherwise fiery rap. Fans are speculating that this snippet might be a possible Cardi B 2 single which seems to be sampling Janet Jackson‘s famous hit “Funny How Time Flies (When You’re Having Fun).” The clip features the artist rapping over the beat of Jackson’s song. “I hope that you are on your way/ Crazy ’bout you,” Cardi sings over the beat of Jackson’s song. “Waiting on you, can’t wait to sit on that face/ Focused on you.”
The Bronx representative captioned the video, “Yall like this vibe for CB2?” which captures the rapper in a car. Upon posting, the fans could no longer keep their calm as they bombarded the comment box on the X (formerly Twitter). “Love that song!!!!!!! Belcalis you’ve done it again!!!! So ready for cb2,” one Bardi Gang member wrote in the post’s comment. Another fan wrote, “She is taking it😭❤️, I can’t wait for the album” Some other comments on the X post read, “OH MOTHER🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥”, “As a bardigangima be honest this the best we have ever head cardi sound singing 😭🔥”, “Had a feeling when I first heard the snippet, she got a hit on her hands”, etc.
“Funny How Time Flies” first appeared in ‘Control’, Janet Jackson’s 1986 album. The blockbuster album was produced by Terry Lewis and Jimmy Jam. Several other artists in the past have sampled the song from time to time. This long list of artists includes names such as The Lost Boyz, Camp Lo, SWV, and Tinashe. Janet Jackson’s track was released in Ireland and the UK. However, it was ruled ineligible for the charts of the US. Simultaneously, the other ‘Control’ singles like ‘When I Think of You’, and ‘Nasty’ dominated the charts of the US commercially.

When it comes to the Bardi gang, they have been waiting patiently for the sophomore album for years now and especially this year, the journey has truly been a roller coaster. Cardi tweeted that the LP will not be dropping this May. But again she deleted the post shortly, recanting her statement. “I hate that I fall back and start interacting again and it bites me in the a**,” she wrote at the time. “Anyway NO album this year I don’t care I’m relaxing this year.. Dropping these features I already committed to and traveling and enjoying my summer,” she shared in May on Twitter. However, the fans are quite positive that this snippet means this year might be the one when Cardi B finally releases her second studio album.
