At the ‘Netflix is a Joke’ festival Dave Chappelle was attacked by an attendee Isaiah Lee. Chris Rock, Foxx, and Chappelle defused the tension with their humor.
The renowned actor and comedian Dave Chappelle was attacked during his performance at the ‘Netflix is a Joke’ festival in Hollywood Bowl, Tuesday night. The video footage of the incident is insufficient as the attendees were not allowed to carry mobile phones inside the auditorium.
Based on the not-so-clear footage an individual, who was later identified as Isaiah Lee of Los Angeles, rushed and attacked the veteran comedian on stage. Chappelle handled the situation with his quickest reflexes.

Before the attacker can escape Chappelle and his team members were able to apprehend the person. The 23-year-old assailant had a pointed replica of a handgun. The video footage of the attack and Lee’s departure in the police guarded ambulance is spreading like wildfire, though the source of the footage remains unconfirmed.
According to reports from eyewitnesses, actor Jamie Foxx who was also a part of the festival came running to the rescue of Chappelle. In another unofficial clip Chappelle is seen saying, ‘Whenever you’re in trouble, Jamie Foxx will show up in a sheriff’s hat’.
And Foxx was seen in the clip saying, ‘Listen, I just want to say this man is an absolute genius. We’ve got to make sure we protect him at all times … For every comedian who comes out here, this means everything. You’re a genius. You’re a legend, and we’re not going to let nothing happen to you.’

Chris Rock performed just before Chappelle, came to the stage after the incident and commented, ‘Was that Will Smith?’ Referring to the Oscar incident when Rock joked about Jada’s alopecia and Will Smith went up the stage and gave Chris a tight slap for it.
The spokesperson of Hollywood Bowl issued a statement on PA media validating the ongoing investigation, it said, ‘The incident that occurred at the Hollywood Bowl on May 3, 2022, is an active investigation and we are unable to comment further at this time.’
