Dolly Parton, the country music artist who stays deep inside everyone’s heart has taken a decision to bow out from the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame 2022. She was nominated in the class of inductees however, the artist withdrew herself from participating.

In a recent social media post, Dolly said that she is “extremely flattered and grateful” for the nomination she has received. But at the same time, she further mentioned that she does not feel like she “earned that right.”

The singer further added that “I really do not want votes to be split because of me, so I must respectfully bow out.”

This year’s ballot included a handful of artists and Eminem was also included in it. Dolly was the only country star featured on the Ballot.

The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame is trying to bring some changes in recent years by nominating music artists who are not really traditional rock artists but have made ample amount of contribution to the rock n roll music industry.

Previously, Johnny Cash, Madonna, and The Supremes were featured in the list. After 2017, the Hall of fame started featuring hip-hop artists as well and started with the first rap group the Furious Five and Grandmaster Flash.

John Sykes, Chairman of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Foundation said that each of the nominated artists is chosen based on “a profound impact on the sound of youth culture” through their musical creations.

There are no criteria that the artists have to record within the rock genre but their influence should be evident. And their first commercial recording should have been released at least 25 years earlier.

Dolly further said that she hopes that the Hall of Fame will again nominate her in the Future and she will accept it when she truly finds herself “ever worthy.”

The ‘Coat Of Many Colors’ singer further said, “This has, however, inspired me to put out a hopefully great rock ‘n’ roll album at some point in the future, which I have always wanted to do!” Her husband Carl Dean also supports her in this initiative as he has always told her so.

Stay tuned to know more about this year’s inductees as the list will be declared in May. An induction ceremony will soon follow.
