Drake made a surprise special appearance at PartyNextDoor’s show this weekend, and he came with big news! The American rapper announced that he is releasing a collaborative album with PartyNextDoor as they have been working on the album for quite some time. On Friday night (August 2), in front of hometown fans at Toronto’s Budweiser Stage, the ‘Hotline Bling‘ rapper performed for over an hour at the end of PartyNextDoor’s show. “On behalf of me and Party, we’ve been working on something for y’all,” Drake told fans at the show towards the end of the concert. “So, you get the summer over with, you do what you need to do. I know all you girls are outside. When it gets a little chilly, [a] PartyNextDoor and Drake album will be waiting right there for you.” The announcement was quickly uploaded to social media where fans showed their excitement.
Drake further explained that he was at the concert “as a thank you, to each and every one of you for all your years of unwavering support,” especially in the light of his feud with rapper Kendrick Lamar, and the growing popularity of Lamar’s diss track against him, ‘Not Like Us’. He started the performance with a remix of his 2015 hit ‘Sweeterman’ by Ramriddlz. He then transitioned into the live debut of ‘Wah Gwan Delilah’, the same song but it is Toronto-themed. The video has been uploaded on social media platforms, and fans could not keep themselves from commenting and praising the rapper. People thought he was mocking Lamar, so one of the comments read, “this is hilarious 😂😂😂”, while another one said, “🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 drake funny asf”. One of the comments said, “Wah gwan delilah is the best song from the battle lmao”, while another one read, “drake is mocking kendrick”, and “Man Drake you cooked I mean what in the 🌍”.

Rapper Snowd4y – pronounced Snowday shared a cover of Plain White Ts’ ‘Hey There Delilah’ along with a remix and a verse from Drake himself. The track contained the two rappers altering the original Plain White T’s song, a bizarre effect that features a healthy amount of autotune, and parody-esque lyrics. The Plain White T’s also shared their reaction on social media to listening to the song for the first time. They found it strange and assumed it was AI. “That’s not Drake,” Tom Higgenson said as he heard Drake’s verse for the first time. “It’s crazy that everybody thinks that it’s real. It seems like it’s very obvious. I don’t know. But it’s cool. Whatever.”
In his set on Friday, Drake performed ‘Connect’, ‘Practice’, ‘Finesse’, ‘Redemption’ and ‘Pipe Down’. He also called PartyNextDoor the “King of R&B” before the duo performed their 2016 collab ‘Come and See Me’ to close out the concert for the night.
