Popstar Dua Lipa is becoming the queen of the music industry with her Radical Optimism Tour which is buzzing gloriously. At her recent concert in Auckland, New Zealand, the singer paid tribute to Lorde by singing a surprise version of the track ‘Royals’.

Fans at the show were almost ‘Levitating’ when the singer appeared in her glamorous lacy black bodysuit complemented by a fuzzy cream shawl. She was completely in command at the Spark Arena, and the crowd followed her.

She sings, “We’re bigger than we ever dreamed, and I’m in love with being queen,” along with backup vocals which offered a grandiose musical experience through lush harmonies. As the lyrics go further with the lines like “And we’ll never be royals/ It don’t run in our blood/ That kind of luxe just ain’t for us/ We crave a different kind of buzz”, and Dua held a hand-crown over her head.

As Dua continued with “Let me be your ruler/ You can call me queen bee,” the crowd was already in a dance vibe and the singer joined them. They started singing along with Dua and that is what was described, “And baby, I’ll rule/ Let me live that fantasy.”

This special cover of “Royals” is a musical treat from Dua for the fans in Auckland who attended her Radical Optimism Tour. It was the second sold-out night for the artist and the arena was packed. Well, they definitely deserved this sweet gesture from the artist.

The song ‘Royals’ was released back in 2013 and it was a massive hit for Lorde back then. It was only her debut single which became a breakout smash and spent a total of nine weeks at the no.1 on the Billboard Hot 100. The song appeared on Lorde’s first studio album called ‘Pure Heroine’ which ranked at No. 3 on the Billboard 200.

Lorde has not released any album project since her last work in 2021, called ‘Solar Power’. It is not certain when Lorde’s next album will come but she is often found in her studio. She made a guest appearance for Charlie XCX’s “girl, so confusing” last year.
