Ed Sheeran opens about his relationship with his wife Cherry from hook-up to separation and from reunion to marriage

In an interview on Armchair Expert with Dax Shepard on Monday, artist Ed Sheeran became nostalgic and remembered his childhood memories with now his wife then a friend, Cherry Seaborn; growing up together, separation and reunion.

 In the episode Sheeran said that they were really “close friends” growing up. But he never dated her in school. Even, if he dated her it would have been a disastrous one.

The couple had lost connection when Seaborn got a scholarship to Duke University and Sheeran went on a tour as per his statement. However, one night in 2015 in New York City, they both reunited. Sheeran mentioned how nervous he was then as the two had hooked up the last time they met years back.

One day when Sheeran was in New York for his tour, Sheeran went to go out with Cherry as she was working in Wall Street. Sheeran remembered how excited he was when he was saying yes to cherry for a hangout. “And then she was like, ‘Oh Cherry Seaborn is in town, do you want to hang out?’ I was like, ‘Yes.'” He also admitted that he was nervous because the last time when they met they hooked up. Although it was very innocent, it rang over his head that time. The singer said, “Very gentle, it was a kiss’ the “Shivers”.

Now the couple lives in their hometown where they both grew up. Being a little philosophical about his journey he said, “I feel like I am the me that I was when I grew up when I’m there. And then when I come to London, it’s like you have this switch. I described it like putting on Spider-Man’s outfit…”

Last month in an interview with Norwegian-Swedish talk show Skavlan, he said about his proposal for Cherry and how it was different from what he actually planned. He said that Cherry’s parents married after 30 years of being in a live-in relationship. So, the concept of marriage is not very important for her. So, he was quite pessimistic about her saying yes. He said, “So I was walking into it being like, ‘I don’t know if she’s going to say yes.’ I really didn’t know.”She, however, said yes, and they got engaged in 2017, and got married in 2019. Now, they have a daughter too, Lycra, born in August 2020.

Ed Sheeran celebrated the release of his fourth studio album = (pronounced equals) and left a message for his fans that this was his best work to date. Sheeran Wrote on social media. “This is my favorite album I’ve made, I’m so proud of it”.
