Eight Years Later, Selena Gomez Drops Fan Favorite ‘Stained’

After years of fan requests and internet whispers, Selena Gomez has finally released ‘Stained’, a previously unreleased track produced by Blanco originally, first teased in 2016 when the singer shared a snippet that was recorded during her ‘Revival’ era. The song, long beloved by diehard fans after it leaked in 2016, is now available for a limited time exclusively through Gomez’s official tour. Taking to Instagram on Saturday, Gomez made the surprise announcement, expressing heartfelt gratitude to her fans.

‘Eight years later and you guys never forgot about this song,’ she wrote. ‘Your love for Stained has never gone away, and I wanted to do something special to say thank you for all the love and support on the album. Stained is now available exclusively on my official store for a limited time only. #Stained.’ In a live stream that was recorded by a fan over the weekend, Gomez gave listeners (and Blanco, who was on the stream with her) some background on what had happened with ‘Stained,’ saying, ‘You know, I actually loved that song and I was nervous … I remember I was still nervous to curse in a song. I don’t know what happened. I’m sure I leaked it on accident, or I did something. But it got out, and I’m kind of happy that it did.’

Originally intended for her 2015 album Revival, Stained never made the final tracklist—until now. Fans have long considered it a lost gem, and its official release comes as a nostalgic gift timed with Gomez’s latest creative chapter. The song drop follows the recent release of Gomez’s new album I Said I Love You First, a deeply personal 15-track collaboration with fiancé Benny Blanco. Released under SMG Music, Friends Keep Secrets, and Interscope Records, the album marks the couple’s first official musical project together.
