Falguni Shah’s ‘Abundance In Millets’ Track Features PM Modi Nominated For The Grammy

A brilliant soundtrack to promote the advantages of millets on which Narendra Modi, the honorable Prime Minister had collaborated with the American-Indian singer Falu, was nominated for the Grammy award as the best global music performance, authorities shared on Friday.

The 2024 Grammy Awards were organized in Los Angeles. Despite getting a nomination for the year’s award show, PM Modi did not win the award. His soundtrack ‘Abundance in Millets’ with Falguni Shah and her husband Gaurav Shah was a hit in the music industry and garnered much love and attention from audiences across the world. However, this award was provided only to the Indian artist. This time popular percussionist Zakir Hussain bragged the award home.

The discussion around this soundtrack began only in the year 2023 when PM Modi quoted Falguni Shah and also met her later. PM Modi suggested the musician create a track on millet. Falguni then came up with the title ‘Abundance in Millet’ and composed a song. The honorable Prime Minister also contributed a few of the lyrics himself but unfortunately, the masterpiece of a song could not win the award.

Moreover, numerous songs were nominated for the Best Global Music Performance. The category also includes Bella Fleck, Zakir Hussain, Edgar Mayer, and Rakesh Chaurasia; ‘s track ‘Pasto’ which managed to win the award. Besides this, among the tracks that were nominated, the song by Aruj Aftab, Sehjad Ismail, and Vijay Iyer’s ‘Shadow Forces’ also got into the nominations but did not win the award.

Well, Press Trust of India posted a list of perfo0mances that were nominated at the Grammys along with a caption that says, “A song on Millets which was produced in collaboration with PM Modi has been nominated under Best Global Music Performance category for Grammy awards 2024.” The list says, “Best Global Music Performance Arooj Aftab, Vijay Iyer & Shahzad Ismaily – Shadow Forces, Burna Boy- Alone, Davido – Feel, Silvana Estrada – Milagro Y Disaster, Falu & Gaurav Shah (ft. PM Narendra Modi) – Abundance In Millets, Bela Fleck, Edgar Meyer & Zakir Hussain ft. Rakesh Chaurasia – Pashto, Ibrahim Maalouf ft. Cimafunk & Tank and the Bnages – Todo Colores. “

Previously in June 2023, Falguni Shah wrote to X (formerly known as Twitter), “Abundance in Millets” a song inspired by PM Narendra Modi’s proposition to the UN to declare 2023 as the International Year of Millets. Honored to collaborate with him, write a song to promote millet, help farmers grow it, and help end world hunger.”

However, Falguni Shah is a singer-songwriter and as well as the first South Asian woman to win a Grammy award.
