American singer Aaron Carter, who rose to fame with his album ‘Aaron’s Party (Come Get it)” at the turn of the 2000 millennium, was found dead on 5th November, Saturday, in his California home at the age of 34.
A spokesperson for the police informed AFP that the officers rushed to the singer’s home at 10:58 a.m. after they received a call for help and found the body of a deceased person whom they were unable to publicly identify initially.
Another source informed that the body was found inside a bathtub. It was also reported that the artist’s manager did not immediately respond to a query by AFP.
Aaron Carter, born on December 7, 1987, in Tampa, Florida, began performing at the age of 7 and released his debut album ‘Aaron Carter’ at the age of 9 in December 1997, which sold 3 million copies in the US and plummeted his musical career and turned him into a teenage heartthrob. Carter’s popularity made him a regular on Disney and Nickelodeon shows. He also starred in his family’s reality TV series ‘House of Carters’. He toured with The Backstreet Boys, where his brother Nick Carter is a member, and also with Britney Spears. His album ‘Oh Aaron’ went platinum.
With time, the artist’s career began to dwindle as his personal life came under media scrutiny and gossip. Tabloids fed off the struggle he had with his siblings and other family members over money. News of his being admitted into a treatment facility appeared in 2011.
In 2013, Carter filed a bankruptcy petition and had several run-ins on charges of possession. In 2017 Carter came out as bisexual and was immensely supported by his fans and other celebrities. In the same year, he was arrested for driving under influence with his girlfriend, Madison Parker, which in a later interview, he denied. He began to address his arrests and skinny appearance that had led to rumors of illness or illegal drug use.
Before his demise, Aaron was working on his new album (and his last), “Blacklisted”. It was the first album to be released by him in six years and took a period of 12 months to record, during which he had his son Prince. The album which was originally set to be released in December would now be released on November 6 as a tribute to Carter. Celebrities poured out their support on social media, with the Backstreet boys paying a special tribute during their London show.
