The fans are crying for extended sob hours after knowing the meaning behind Lana Del Rey’s latest song ‘The Grants’. This is the titular track from her ninth studio album ‘ Did You Know There’s a Tunnel Under Ocean Blvd’ which is followed by ‘A&W’, another single is bringing the sultry vibes of love just like the initial albums Lana. Fans are hailing her while considering her return to the music industry.
Breaking down the lyrics of the album offers a heart-wrenching meaning that is currently buzzing through the internet. The first track in the album offers Lana Del Rey’s real name Elizabeth Woolridge Grant. The lyrical approach shows a promise to Lana’s dear ones that she will be keeping all the cherished memories close to her heart, no matter what happens.
As the line goes, “I’m gonna take mine of you with me/Like ‘Rocky Mountain High’, the way John Denver sings”; it appears to be a reference to the 1972 John Denver hit the track. The musical project is paying tribute to Del Rey’s family. It seems Lana is also paying tribute to her uncle David Grant. There is an emphasis as David died while climbing the Rocky Mountains in Colorado in 2016.
Somewhere else in the track, the singer also checks on her niece Phoenix Pickens-Grant and her grandmother Cynthia K Grant who passed away in 2021. Fans are sobbing with heightened emotion as one can expect from a song written about family members dying. With a thought-provoking lamentation of deeper feelings, Lana is captivating everyone with an emotional musical journey.
The upcoming album ‘ Did You Know There’s a Tunnel Under Ocean Blvd’ is due to release on March 24. The album will be offering listeners an emotive musical experience through 16 exquisite songs including the lead single ‘The Grants’. Other than the namesake title track, there is ‘Grandfather Please Stand on The Shoulders of My Father While He’s Deep-Sea Fishing’, ‘Judah Smith Interlude’, ‘Candy Necklace’, ‘Sweet’, and many other tracks that are masterfully designed along with intriguing lyricism.
Lana Del Rey has collaborated with many other artists to create this musical project such as Father John Misty featured in ‘Let the Light In’, ‘Margaret‘ is featured by Bleachers and Tommy Genesis has joined forces for the track ‘Peppers’. Long-trusted collaborator Jack Antonoff has produced the record.
