Kanye West calls out Adidas and its latest slides as ‘Fake Yeezy’

Adidas has recently dropped their latest collection of Adilette 22 slide sandals and Kanye West has called it fake. He said that the latest model is “a fake Yeezy made by adidas themselves”.

The rapper has shared a post on Instagram which is deleted now but his protest was evident. He shared an image of slides that showed the sold-out section along with the latest release in May.

His words hit hard as he said that the shoes “represent the disrespect that people in power have to the talent” which lead Rørsted to talk to him in person.

He is drawing a comparison between his own brand Yeezy Slide line with the latest Adilette. Yeezy lineup was launched back in 2019 however, both of the brands offer similar lightweight and soft sliders along with beige and earthy tones. Considering the price, Adilette is slightly cheaper than the Yeezy slides.

Though it started in collaboration with Adidas, West went through a contract with the company that says he retains the 100% ownership of Yeezy Shoes which includes full creative control over the products.
