Heavy K-Pop Influence On The MTV Video Music Awards This Year

This year, the VMA or the MTV Video Music Awards is seeing a significant Korean influence on them as they highlight the memorable contributions of K-pop artists.

The MTV Video Music Awards of 2024 has got a new flair with a dash of K-Pop as some of the giants of this genre have been nominated in different categories. The VMAs are always a huge deal for the fans from all across the globe and the influence of K-pop has also risen to an exponential height in the past few years so it was inevitable to miss them in the award ceremony this year. On August 6th, the officials of MTV Video Music Awards of 2024 made an announcement regarding the nominations, and the leaders of the K-pop genre are seen to be shining the brightest of all.

The first artist of Korean Pop music to get nominated is Lisa from BLACKPINK, for her solo hit, ‘ROCKSTAR’. She has conquered four nominations in different categories which include Best Choreography, Best Art Direction, Best Editing, and Best K-Pop. This goes on to show the diversity and immense talent this singer holds and the love she has gained through her hit solo. She has become a multifaceted personality in the music industry.

The second position is taken over by the youngest member of BTS, Jungkook, who had got everyone hooked on his solo debut ‘Seven’ which features Latto.  BTS has been a heartthrob since the moment they came into the spotlight and nothing less than that is not expected from the members but with the solo debut, Jungkook has made a strong impression on the fans and on the overall music industry. This memorable track has earned Jungkook nominations in two major categories, Best Collaboration and Best K-Pop. This nomination definitely brings justice to his effort behind the solo debut which the fans and critics seem to agree to.

LE SSERAFIM is a newcomer to the VMAs this year as they score their first ever MTV VMAs nomination for Push Performance of the Year, for their record-breaking track, ‘EASY’. Along with them, to other another excellent team of young musicians, NCT DREAM for their track ‘Smoothie’ and New Jeans for their track ‘Super Shy’ have scored their nomination in the category of Best K-Pop at the MTV VMAs. Apart from this, TOMORROW X TOGETHER (TXT) for the track ‘Déjà vu’ and ‘LALALALA’ by the Stray Kids are also a part of the nomination category for Best K-Pop in the MTV Video Music Awards 2024. The award function will air live from New York on September 10. Fans can cast their votes for their favorite artist via the MTV’s website.
