A gang of gunmen forced their way to the set of the shooting of a music video in a small town of Johannesburg and brutally raped 8 young women models.
A whole gang of gunmen broke into the a shoot for a music video and raped 8 young women models from the members in a small town of South Africa this week, as per the statement of police on Friday.
Security forces have arrested three out of 20 suspects by now for the horrifying incident of Thursday held on the outskirts of Krugersdorp, a small town of Johannesburg.
The police minister Bheki Cele told the reporter that the gang attacked the cast and crew members of the shoot when they were offloading all their equipment and getting ready for the shoot.
The women who were raped were between 18 and 35 years. He also added one woman was raped by 10 men and another was by 8.
The men in the crew were stripped naked and robbed of all their belongings’ personal and professional. Moreover, the police minister added, “It looks like they are foreign nationals, basically they are Zama Zamas”. He also referred to them as illegal miners in the country.
Rape is one of the most under-reported incidents in South Africa. But it is reported that crimes like rapes and assaults are committed every 12 minutes in the country.
President Cyril Ramaphosa told in the same press conference that he ordered the police minister to ensure that the intruders and rapists were apprehended and dealt with.
The people of the country as well as the world are horrified and disgusted upon hearing about the incident. Women’s safety which has ever been one of the major issues has now become intensified.
