From rapping to acting, Ice Spice’s dynamic skills are spreading all across the world. This time the rapper is all set to make her acting debut on Spike Lee’s upcoming movie.
She is going to star in the film along with Denzel Washington and it is perhaps one of the biggest breakthroughs for the rapper to be part of Hollywood. This upcoming movie by Spike Lee is an English-language reinterpretation of the highly acclaimed crime thriller movie ‘High and Low’ by Akira Kurosawa. The movie was made based on the famous novel ‘King’s Ransom’ by Ed McBain.
Spike Lee is best known for his directorial works that shed more light on societal issues and racial discrimination. Denzel is perhaps one of his favorite cast as this will be Lee’s fifth film to feature Washington as the protag onist. It goes without saying that Denzel Washington is one of the finest actors in the industry who has won the Academic Award twice. Acting against this persona will be truly an amazing experience and opportunity for Ice Spice.
Earlier in January this year, Spice spoke of her debut album and created anticipation by saying “Yes, there’s going to be an album this year.” The rapper has also revealed the title for the project saying, “I’m so excited. It’s called Y2K.” The rapper further said, “It’s almost finished, so I’m really excited.”

Talking about the name and her connection with the debut album, Spice said, “I was (born on Y2K) and that’s why I decided to name it that.” The rapper has made some significant progress within a very short span of time and her rise to fame would not have been possible with her robust hip-hop skills. She is also nominated for the Grammy’s this year and it is her first-ever. She is gathering global attention with every successful release, the reason why she was featured in the best new artist award.
The raper has also managed to get three more nominations, starting with the best pop/group duo performance for her collaborative project with Taylor Swift’s Karma Remix’. She was also nominated for the best rap song and best song written for visual media for her high-octane collaboration with Nicki Minaj for the ‘Barbie Soundtrack’ from the movie.
