Since the past year after filing a case of domestic violence against the acclaimed rapper Yo Yo Honey Singh, his relationship with wife Shalini Talwar has been the most gossiped about an issue in the entertainment media. As per the recent reports, the couple has finally parted ways after 21 years of married life. They have been in the middle of a legal battle since last year as Shalini filed a case in court against the singer-rapper. The Saket District Court in Delhi has now finalized its divorce plea.
The pair were childhood sweethearts and were married in 2011. However, after 21 years of marriage, Shalini approached the Tis Hazari Court in Delhi where she filed a case against her husband, rapper Honey Singh, in charge of domestic violence along with a compensation of 20 crores. She accused the singer of assaulting her physically and said during her marriage with Honey Singh, she also has been cheated on. The accusations did not stop there, further in her official complaint she even accused the singer and rapper’s family of assaulting her mentally and emotionally to an excessive extent where she almost started to feel like a ‘farm animal’ and identify with itself.
Times Now Hindi reported that Honey Singh paid a total of 1 crore as an alimony amount to his wife, Shalini Talwar. He was seen handing over to his wife a sealed envelope which contained the cheque, used for the settlement amount for their divorce to be finalized. The source further reported that both parties are pretty content with their decisions.
The famous rapper and singer Honey Singh has been subjected to several controversies in the past. The aggressive and inappropriate lyrics used in his songs were subjected to several criticisms. Recently he also created headline because of his health issues. All these controversies have negatively and positively impacted his career which resulted in him gaining publicity over time. However, the recent claims made by his wife were the most serious and harmful to his public image and brand. Responding to these claims, the singer made a public statement on his social media claiming that he is deeply hurt and distressed by these allegations made by his companion and wife of 21 years. He further went ahead and stated that the allegations are false and are “severely odious”. Calling them “cynical and defaming in nature,” he said that responding to these claims was important to him as some of these were directed to his old parents and sister who all have stood behind him in tough times and supported him throughout his career.
