Hungama Music, the Indian music streaming site is shutting down. The company has announced that they will shut down their service on 15th April. By sending a notification to all the users, this music streaming company has made its announcement. Along with Hungama Music, they previously launched Hungama Digital Media. The services of Hungama Digital Media will also stop on the same day.
They gave a clear statement that says ‘downloaded music and library content will no longer be available’. Amidst the huge competition, this music streaming site couldn’t service anymore and had to shut down. As of now, they haven’t made any kind of announcement regarding rebranding or relaunch. Thus, as of now, it is coming to know that the service of this music streaming site will be completely stopped.
In the past one and a half years, it is the third Indian music streaming site that has been closed forever. Previously, in 2024, ByteDance’s streaming site Resso was shut down. After that, Wynk Music also shut down its service in November 2024. Right now, there are only two Indian music streaming that are still offering their services JioSaavn and Gaana. These two streaming sites are still standing during this problematic scenario.
Hungama Music was launched in the year, 2013. In the beginning, this site made quite a huge impact on the audiences and gained much recognition. It had many users and provided them with a better platform to listen to music. However, in 2023, they started subscription-only assistance to the listeners. So, no one will be able to use this streaming site unless they subscribe to it. And that changed the scenario at a large scale.
This platform used to offer many Indian regional music. And that is why it got the chance to reach out to more audiences. However, the subscription-only policy and license deal of the IPRS policy made things quite difficult for everyone. Other music streaming sites also have subscription plans. However, they are for better experiences. Without the subscription, audiences still get to use the platforms without any hassle. And that is why, they have accumulated more audiences and Hungama Music got a little behind in the race. As of now, it is coming to know that Hungama OTT will remain working. People would be able to consume web series, movies, podcasts, and audio content on this site.
