Sonu Nigam is being awarded a Padma Shri this Monday evening by the president of India Ram Nath Kovind in Rashtrapati Bhavan, Delhi.
The versatile singer Sonu Nigam received the Padma Shri award by President Ram Nath Kovind on Monday evening. The ceremony was held in Rashtrapati Bhavan, Delhi. Along with him, Neeraj Chopra was also awarded a Padma Shri on the very same day.
A picture of the function by the Twitter account ‘President of India’, stating ‘President Kovind presents Padma Shri to Shri Sonu Nigam for Art. A well-known singer and music director, he has sung over 6,000 songs in more than 28 languages.’
The president presented the Padma awards for 2022 at the Civil Investiture Ceremony-II as well.
Sonu Nigam received the award in a white ethnic outfit and black shoes along with which he had his heart-melting smile while taking the award.
Sonu Nigam shared his voice mostly in Hindi and Kannada language movies, apart from that he has also sung in Bengali, Odia, Marathi, Gujrati, Tamil, Telegu, Malayalam, Nepali, and Bhojpuri. It is fair to say that he has shared his voice in most of the Indian languages. And for his works he has been honored with several awards including, a National Film Award for the title track of the 2003 movie ‘Kal Ho Na Ho’.
Some of his extremely popular songs include songs like Mera Rang de Basanti Chola, Abhi Mujh Mein Kahin, the title track of Saathiya, Do Pal, Suraj Hua Maddham, Dil Dooba, Tumse Milke Dil Hai Jo Haal, and many more. The 48-year-old singer has been dominating the Indian Music Industry since 1992 with his colorful and melodious vocal qualities.
