Jelly Roll Wins Prestigious Award At World Literacy Summit

American rapper and singer Jelly Roll has just received the Global Literacy Award this year at the World Literacy Summit. This prestigious award celebrates his influence on worldwide literacy. Saying that Jelly Roll’s life has changed overnight since he debuted with the album ‘Whitsitt Chapel’ would be an understatement. He went from being an underground artist known only to a few to one of the most talked about artists in the country music industry. The Nashville native has taken home a bunch of awards and has had major chart success. Now, this Global Literacy Award is just another addition to his trophy case. On April 7th, the artist attended the World Literacy Summit in the UK to receive his award and speak about his work.

The artist has joined hundreds of educators, authors, and literacy advocates, among other professionals, at the 2025 Literacy Summit in Oxford, United Kingdom. He took the stage with Genesee County Sheriff Christopher R. Swanson to share his story. The musician’s presentation titled “The Journey of a Little Boy from Broken to Beautifully Broken,” detailed his “early run-ins with the law” and how his life has changed over the past few years.

The popular country singer did not just speak at the Global Literacy Summit. He also received one of the most prestigious awards there. “In recognition of his contributions, Jelly Roll is set to receive the Global Literacy Award at the World Literacy Summit, celebrating his global influence on literacy,” the summit’s official website said. The ‘Save Me’ singer got the award because he “acts as an advocate for improving foundational literacy within the justice system domestically and internationally, especially among young offenders, through educational programs and resources.”

Roll took the stage to share his story with his beautiful presentation in hand. The keynote from the presentation addressed his journey to fame and a secure lifestyle. The subsequent Q&A also highlighted his journey to fame which started out in the juvenile justice system at age 15. His life evolved as he continued to empower teenagers and youngsters through education. He also earned his GED while imprisoned and was involved with institutions encouraging education and literacy among juveniles.

The popular country star recently made the news for headlining Florida’s Tortuga Music Festival. On top of that, his current hit, ‘Liar’ just spent six massive weeks at number one position in the charts. He has also become a triple nominee at the 60th ACM Awards, scheduled to take place in May along with being a contender for Entertainer of the Year.
