Legendary singer and songwriter Jimmy Buffett, who turned ‘Margaritaville’ Hit into an Empire, dies at the age of 76. His laid-back, sun-drenched, and humorous releases will always be close to everyone’s heart. On Friday this country-laced pop progeny with a lucrative one-man business empire died, causing heartaches for millions. The singer died at his home in Sag Harbor, New York, near the Hamptons.
Confirming the news of his death, his official website released a statement. It goes like this, “Jimmy passed away peacefully on the night of September 1st surrounded by his family, friends, music and dogs. He lived his life like a song till the very last breath and will be missed beyond measure by so many.” The statement went on and added, “He continued to perform during treatment, playing his last show, a surprise appearance in Rhode Island, in early July.”
An added statement made on his website revealed that he has been suffering from Merkel cell skin cancer for four years. Merkel cell carcinoma is a medical jargon, but this sort of cancer can develop from sun exposure, a weakened immune system, a history of other cancers, and being light-skinned. The risk factors increase for people over 50 years old.
He has a long professional career, and over the course of his 50 years of making music, singing, and writing music, he came close to his audience based on his numerous pop hits. His timeless “Margaritaville” is a marimba-laced, tequila-soaked paean. It is a song that every healed lover will cherish while rounding back to the beach after all the heartaches have despaired.
His enthusiastic fan base has given him one of the consistent record sellers. Even his absent records hits were also excelled. He has been active at the studio for five long decades, and his catalog holds four platinum and eight gold studio albums. His ‘Songs You Know by Heart’, his 1985 hits compilation, sold over 7 million copies. On the other hand his ‘Boats, Beaches, Bars & Ballads’ went up and over 4 million copies.
His music was always highly palatable and the zesty party and hearty vibes of numbers easily translated to his audience. In 2016 he was one of the most successful performers and was also amongst the wealthiest people.
