BTS fans from all around the world are excited to celebrate the band’s 11th debut anniversary. Every year, the biggest boy band in the world performs at the BangBangCon concert, which has been always a part of their FIESTA celebrations since their debut in the South Korean entertainment industry. Well, this year most of the band’s members are fulfilling their compulsory military duties. BTS’ V, Jungkook, Jimin, J-Hope, RM, and Suga are currently in the country’s military, serving their compulsory military duty which requires all able-bodied men in the country to serve at least 18 months in the nation’s armed forces. Only the oldest member of the group Jin has concluded his mandatory military duty and has returned a day before the grand celebration.
Jin, upon return, celebrated with the fans in a heartfelt live session on Weverse. He reunited with worldwide fans after nearly 2 years of serving in the South Korean military. During the season, Jin shared some insights about his military discharge while teasing upcoming activities of the band, including the much-anticipated BTS FIESTA 2024. During the live stream, the oldest singer-performer of BTS revealed that he would be offering free hugs to 1000 lucky fans as part of FIESTA 2024. This initiative was met with health and safety concerns from the fans and was also clarified by Jin. He revealed on the livestream that this idea was of his own which was born out of a desire to make a meaningful contribution to the annual event since he would be the only BTS member participating this year.
Jin also revealed that he suggested multiple ideas for the event but all met with pushback from the agency, HYBE, every time. So he proposed a free hug event at an outdoor setting as he was determined to create a memorable and intimate experience. However, the concerns regarding safety and potential crowd control issues led to further discussions and negotiations. Ultimately, the BTS singer-performer and HYBE agreed on an outdoor event ensuring the safety of both the artist and the fans that will be participating in the event. At first, the company suggested a smaller circle and event, setting on inviting only 50 fans, but the singer advocated for more inclusivity. After discussions, both settled on 1000 fans, who would be selected through a raffle. This approach to the event balanced the singer’s wish to connect intimately with as many fans as possible while addressing safety and logistical issues.
