According to the latest reports, the Daisies singer unleashed the cover art and the title for her upcoming album ‘Smile’. The album which is supposedly her fifth makes its debut on August 14 with the title song releasing this Friday.
The poster shows Katy Perry clowning around as she plays into the carnival theme. The 35-year-old has teased the cover by being in the front and center of the artwork where she is seen resting her chin on her palms as she sports a round, red clown’s nose. The star is seen wearing a blue-and-white checkered outfit and her hair looks color pinkish-blonde.
Perry made the announcement on her Instagram handle and captioned it by writing step right up, KP5 is called SMILE.
Katy Perry who is currently expecting her first child stated that the new collection of songs has been inspired by the difficult time she has faced. It was only last month when the star had opened up about considering suicide after she had a split from her now-fiancé Orlando Bloom.
Perry wrote that the time when she had written the title track from her album was when she was going through one of the darkest periods of her life and had completely lost her smile. The whole album circumferences her journey towards the light, with stories of resilience, hopes, and loves.
However, all the details about the upcoming album are still under wraps but Perry did divulge some details on one particular song that is to be included on the tracklist. While speaking with an NRJ Lebanon radio show last month, the artist had revealed the meaning behind a tune titled What Makes a Woman.
Perry had stated the kind of hope she has in store for her future child and spoke on how she doesn’t want to have any limits on the dreams of her child, or what she wants to be, or she thinks she is. According to Billboard, Perry had said that she expects her child to change whenever she wants and that she doesn’t have to necessarily stick to one thing and can try out everything if she wants and figure out what fits for her.
Added to this she said that this particular song is important both to her and her child.
The artist has already come up with a name for her album but the same thing can’t be as of now concluded for her baby who is on the way. This is all for a sweet reason of course.
Currently, both Perry and Bloom are gearing up for their baby girl and the mom-to-be said that they shall wait until they finally meet their newborn to decide on a moniker.
Last month, the American Idol judge had told Mix 104.1’s Karson & Kennedy that they still haven’t decided on her name because they have multiple options and that she would tell all at the right time. He even told that he might just look at her and refer to her like this and that.
