Lee Ja-yeon has advised the K-pop band BTS to reconsider their decision to extend the break. This band has taken the K-pop music culture to a whole different level.
Recently the Korean boy band BTS has announced that the group is taking a break to focus on their solo projects. This news has generated a buzz all around the world, as they are one of the most famous bands in the present time. This group of artists has shown their magical talent and captivated all the music enthusiasts.
The head of the Korea Singer’s Association, Lee Ja-Yeon is advising to reconsider the decision of an extended break. She has shown her concern about the fact as this boy band has achieved so much success.
BTS put out the news while they were celebrating the ninth anniversary of them and said that they would be ‘[taking] time to explore some solo projects’.
As they have become one of the most proficient bands it is also high time to explore things as a solo musician.
Lee Ja-Yeon said in a statement that ‘I’m concerned that the Korean wave centering around BTS, which has the strongest cultural soft power in Korea and the world, may fade away … Like a ‘second Beatles’ won’t arrive easily, it is unlikely for there to be a ‘second BTS,’ so I’m worried that hallyu may be cut’.
They are an integral part of the Korean music industry which is why Lee has said ‘You may have made the decision after deep deliberation, but would you reconsider [a withdrawal of the decision] for the sake of Korea’s music industry?’
The main reason behind advising such a thing is because this band has glorified the music industry of Korea and breaking the band will severely affect it. So the fanbase of this industry will be partially reduced and will make a huge change. She has said more, that BTS followers are known as ‘hallyu followers’ and said it is making a huge impact and made ‘result in the decline of hallyu-related tourism’.
After so many things, the ARMY is still supporting BTS and one fan has said ‘I did not sign up to be a missionary of hallyu wave and Korean culture… leave BTS alone’. more fans have said ‘here for BTS and BTS only, and that includes supporting their much deserved break’ and ‘BTS did not release an hour long video explaining everything for people to guilt trip them to keep working’.
