This weekend is going to get huge with two of the biggest pop releases taking place on Friday. January 12 is kicking off the year 2024 with Ariana Grande’s highly anticipated release “yes, and?”, along with Lil Nas X’s highly controversial music project “J Christ,” which is expanding his musical journey after the huge success of the 2021’s album Montero.

Lil Nas X’s ‘J Christ’ is already provoking Christians all over the country as he is using an image of himself where he is crucified against a cross and the single’s artwork is already creating a buzz. Just like Doja Cat, Nas is part of the new gen of artists who are known as digital natives who utilize online outrage in order to reach their advantage.

The critics are expecting “J Christ” in direct response to the backlash that surrounded the last hit project “Montero (Call Me By Your Name),” where the singer could be seen performing and giving a lap dance to the devil or Satan while embracing his queer personality. The music video sparked controversy that Nas is perhaps a Satanist or a member of the Illuminati.

However, this time he flipped the switch and instead of Satan, he brought Jesus into the script. For the latest music video, he is playfully teasing the “Christian era” and it has been going on for months. His TikTok videos and the release of ‘J Christ’ have spoken of the online Christian conspiracy theories. Nas once said, “the industry tried to make me satanic” and that he was going to “expose y’all favorite artists” so he needs to “watch back” of his own.

In another video clip, the artist could be found “explaining to fans that the media stopped supporting me after I started promoting god to the masses. And that the industry is wicked which is why I was blackballed from releasing music for the last year and a half. But i’m finally independent now and will be dropping a new song next week.”

While social media is ready for another high-caliber trolling for Nas, the controversy will only help him to promote music and make it go viral. In the announcement of “J Christ” on Twitter, Nas captioned, “MY NEW SINGLE IS DEDICATED TO THE MAN WHO HAD THE GREATEST COMEBACK OF ALL TIME!”

But soon enough, within half an hour of the tweet, the artist further wrote, “The crazy thing is nowhere in the picture is a mockery of jesus. Jesus’s image is used throughout history in people’s art all over the world. I’m not making fun of shit. yall just gotta stop trying to gatekeep a religion that was here before any of us were even born. Stfu.”

Previously, Ariana Grande was also found sparking controversy with her song ‘God Is Woman’.
