Lil Nax Drops New Songs ‘Dreamboy’ and ‘Hotbox’ for Fans

Lil Nas X is ushering in a bold new era with Dreamboy, his highly anticipated follow-up to 2021’s Montero. In October, just a week after dropping his carefree anthem ‘Light Again’, he came out with an emotional and introspective new single titled ‘Need Dat Boy’. Just a few days ago, Lil Nax again gave a major surprise to his fans. In late March of 2024, the rapper and singer dropped a song that the world could not stop talking about and it was called ‘Montero’. The track was about his experiences as a gay man, coupled with a music video that featured him falling from heaven, sliding down a pole into hell, and giving the devil himself a private dance. Even though the rapper admitted in an interview with an established magazine that he was nervous about how some of his fans would react to the song, the rest was history.

He said in the interview, ‘At first I was really afraid of alienating any of my straight fans. But then it was kind of like if they feel offended, they were never really here for me. They were here for whatever version of myself they made up in their head.’ For weeks, Lil Nas X was subjected to commentary and taunts from conservatives, many of whom the rapper responded to via social media. He also shared a statement about how he hoped they felt the way he was made to feel for his identity. ‘I spent my entire teenage years hating myself because of the s— y’all preached would happen to me because I was gay’ he tweeted. ‘So I hope you are mad, stay mad, feel the same anger you teach us to have towards ourselves.’

After that and his rise with the release of ‘Old Town Road’, which won him 2 Grammys at the 2020 award show, now he is back with brand new tracks. On Sunday, 9^th March the rapper and singer announced the release of ‘Dreamboy’. On a social media platform, he wrote ‘NEW SONG DREAMBOY OUT TONIGHT,’ on Sunday. To this, a fan reacted and responded by commenting, ‘WHAAAAAAAAAATTT, AM I DREAMING??. Lil Nas X quoted their message and responded, ‘ur in dreamworld baby!’ Not only this, but Lil Nax has also confirmed the release of another new single ‘Hotbox’ which will be arriving on Friday. Even though previously he dropped a teaser, reputed music magazines could not get any further information about the surprises from the rapper’s team.

In an introductory clip of ‘Dreamboy’ shared on social media on Sunday, Lil Nax is seen to be saying, ‘Good evening, everybody. I would like for you to grab a glass of wine. Let me talk to you for a minute.’ The visual of the clip showed the singer and rapper framed in a hot pink Dreamboy doll box. ‘I was scared then/ I ain’t scared now/ I wasn’t ready then/ But I’m ready now/ I’m on the way/ I’m on the rise/ On the way, yeah I’m on the rise/ Mind your own business/ I’m minding mine,’ he raps before naming some of his favorite things, including ‘long black dick,’ ‘long conversations’ and ‘cuddling with my cat,’ then calling out the ‘stinky booty bitches’ at church turning his fun into misery. ‘Bitch, I’m still making history,’ he says.
