Lizzo Wears a Throwback Britney Spears T-Shirt in New SNL Promo

This weekend, Lizzo is going to appear on Saturday Night Live as a musical guest and new promos for the show have just dropped. In the new promos, the American singer and rapper was seen paying homage to another iconic artist, Britney Spears.

Saturday Night Live’s this week’s musical guest, Lizzo, was seen wearing a Britney Spears t-shirt, throwing back to her teen-pop idol days of the pop princess. This week will mark the American rapper’s fourth time appearing on the stage of SNL as a musical guest. In 2022, she hosted the show. On the other hand, Spears did double duty as a music performer and a host twice in 2000 and 2002. Spears has also been impersonated more than a dozen times on the show. The recent impersonation was done by Chloe Fineman, a regular SNL cast member.

Lizzo appeared with Jon Hamm, who is going to be hosting SNL for the fourth time this year. They appeared alongside other cast members Bowen Yang and Marcello Hernandez. The group found out just how much in common they have with each other when they said their favorite food (mozzarella sticks) in unison. However, things got really “weird-mazing” when the group recited their shared favorite movie. “Angels in the Outfield, the heartwarming 1994 sports comedy starring Donald Glover and a young Joseph Gorden-Levitt!” the quartet says at once enthusiastically. The audience also learned the surprising real name of Hamm as the group finds out that this is not the first time they have all spent time together.

The promo is out on YouTube, and the comment section seems overwhelming. One comment read, “Angels in the Outfield the heartwarming 1994 sports comedy starring Danny Glover and a young Joseph Gordon Levitt is MY favorite movie too”, while another one said, “marcello’s delivery on “hamm HAMM hamm” killed me”. Another comment said, “Somewhere, the Triple H Hamm HammHamm is shaking his head and questioning if he should ask SAG to rename him for Jon Hamm.”, while another comment read, “Hamm-bone is back and it’s gonna be a blast. Time to medicate myself on laughs – love this lineup”

Lizzo is coming to this weekend’s SNL as a musical guest to promote her upcoming fifth studio album, ‘Love in Real Life’. Although her album does not have a release date yet, it has been preceded by the title track and another single ‘Still Bad’. Last month the rapper announced that she is releasing another album via Instagram. “ALBUM IS DONE YALL!” Lizzo wrote as a caption on a photo of herself in the studio, struggling to smile. The expression was explained in the second half of the caption, where she wrote, “ASTROLOGY EXPERTS Do my mercury got micro braids? Cus I got an emergency root canal, announced SNL & finished my album all in one day today.”

SNL will be airing on NBC at 11:30 p.m. ET/8:30 p.m. PT. Then the show streams on Peacock.
