Pop singer and songwriter Lola Young is becoming the true lyricist of the industry and gaining recognition with multiple nominations. She is leading the categories for this year’s Ivor Novello Awards which is highly prestigious. It is one of the most celebrated awards in the UK music industry that embraces songwriting over anything.
She has received a total of three nominations for Best Song Musically and Best Song Lyrically her breakout hit single ‘Messy’. The song spent a total of one month at the top position on the UK chart and it created a huge buzz among pop lovers.
The artist is also shortlisted for the best album category where she will be facing some tough competition against ‘Brat’ by Charlie XCX which has almost become a pop phenomenon in last summer.

The other nominations are acquired by rapper Ghetts, Charlie, and singer Raye who have gained two nominations each. Lola Young’s co-writer Conor Dickinson is also at the same place with his contributions. Some of the other contenders are Harry Styles, Laura Marling, Fontaines DC, Pa Salieu, and Bashy.
On the other hand, there is Jade who has been nominated for the best contemporary song due to her magical creation of ‘Angel of My Dreams’. Guess what? Even after 40 years, Wham! has been nominated for their all-time hit Christmas track ‘Last Christmas’ for the prize for most performed work based on airplay and public demand.
The winners from the nominations list will be announced soon on 22 May at a London ceremony and the judges have already announced that U2 will named as Academy Fellows which is perhaps the highest honorary accolade at the event.
