Pop queen Madonna has just shared a very emotional post on Instagram, recalling her mother on Mother’s day. Her late mother Madonna Louise Ciccone died back in 1963 when she was only 30 years old. Madonna was only 5 years old when she lost her mother.

Currently, Madonna is 65 years old and she has shared a carousel of photos with her mother, recalling the memories of 60 years back. During her celebration tour, the artist put a picture on the giant screen and performed in front of it. Madonna has already performed with her mother when she was only a little kid.

In the Instagram post, the artist shared in the caption, “I stood on stage during 81 shows, staring at my mother’s beautiful face and wondering what she must have been thinking as she waved goodbye to me from the hospital window.” She further lamented, “I got into the station wagon and closed the door, not knowing that was the last time I would see her.”

While her mother passed away from breast cancer, the singer also expressed that nobody explained what happened to her mother back then. She was utterly confused and could not fathom her family tragedy as the adults did not tell her the truth.

The artist said, “No one told me my mother was dying. “I just watched it mysteriously fall apart and then it disappeared and there was no explanation other than that it went to sleep.” On this Mother’s Day on Sunday, the singer shared a picture with her mother which was taken in in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil on May 4th.

The Grammy Award winner also shared how this death incident of their mother put her in trauma as she has been having a “turbulent relationship with sleep” from her childhood that was carried forward into her adulthood. She shared that sharing her mother’s pictures with the fans on her tour was truly empowering for her and offered a cathartic essence in her performances.

The hitmaker of the songs like ‘Material Girl’, ‘Music’, ‘Vogue’, etc have also shared, “When I went on stage every night and looked at my mother’s face.” She further added, ‘I said hello and said goodbye. I said thank you. I hope you’re proud of me. I said: Please protect me and keep me sane.”

Truly it was a very emotional Mother’s Day for both Madonna and her fans.
