Evan Rachel Wood, the star of Westworld, named Marilyn Manson as her alleged abuser in February 2021.

She said on Instagram, “I am here to expose this dangerous man and call out the many industries that have enabled him before he ruins any more lives. I stand with the many victims who will no longer be silent.”

Wood and Manson started dating when Wood was 18 and Manson was 36, and they were briefly engaged in 2010.

Denying all the allegations Manson posted on Instagram, “Obviously, my art and my life have long been magnets for controversy, but these recent claims about me are horrible distortions of reality. My intimate relationships have always been entirely consensual with like-minded partners. Regardless of how – and why – others are now choosing to misinterpret the past, that is the truth.”

Following Wood’s statement, several women came forward with their charges against Manson. Although he has a nearly 25-year history of abuse allegations, a complete timeline can be found below:

February 1998 (Pitchfork) – In one of the gory episodes in Manson’s autobiography, the actor recalled a deaf fan who was coated in raw meat and had sex with many band members before being urinated on by Manson and his bandmates.

December 2001 – After allegedly spitting on security guard Joshua Keasler’s head and rubbing his G-string-clad genital area on it at a concert at the DTE Energy Music Theatre in Clarkson, Michigan, Manson was charged with felony criminal sexual conduct in the fourth degree. By earning a $4000 fine, they both came down to a settlement.

April 2002 (Blabbermouth) – Following Jennifer Syme’s death, her mother St. John filed a wrongful death lawsuit against Manson, saying that he provided her narcotics and urged her to drive while inebriated.

June 2009 (Spin) – Manson revealed that he self-harmed himself after his separation from Wood in 2007. He also mentioned to Spin that his song “I Want to Kill You Like they Do in the Movies” was about his desire of hitting Wood’s skull with a sledgehammer.

July 2009 (The Guardian) – In a since-deleted blog post, Manson allegedly threatened music journalists in retaliation to media scrutiny by saying, “If one more ‘journalist’ makes a cavalier statement about me and my band, I will personally or with my fans’ help, greet them at their home and discover just how much they believe in their freedom of speech.”

October 2017 (Pitchfork) – In the 1990s, Manson’s longtime bassist Ramirez was accused of sexual and psychological abuse by Jack Off Jill singer Jessicka Addams while they dated. Ramirez was kicked out of Manson’s touring band when the claims surfaced.

February 2018 – Charlyne Yi, the House actress said in a since-deleted tweet that Manson was a “huge fan of the show,” and while visiting the cast when the shooting of the final season was going on, Manson “harassed just about every woman asking us if we were going to scissor, rhino & called me a China man.”

February 2018 – Wood revealed her personal experience to establish a bill of rights for sexual assault survivors. She said, “the toxic mental, physical and sexual abuse which started slow but escalated over time, including threats against my life, severe gaslighting and brainwashing, waking up to the man that claimed to love me, raping what he believed to be my unconscious body.”

August 2018 (The Hollywood Reporter) – At the height of the #MeeToo movement, Manson had a police report filed against him for undisclosed sex offenses dating back to 2011. According to the court filing, the district attorney declined the case because the statute of limitations had passed and there was an “absence of corroboration.”

April 2019 – While detailing her experience with domestic violence before a California State panel, Wood once again declined to name her abuser. She mentioned she has been diagnosed with panic attacks, complex PTSD, night terrors, and many more.

February 2021 – Wood shared on an Instagram statement,  “The name of my abuser is Brian Warner, also known to the world as Marilyn Manson. I was brainwashed and manipulated into submission. I am done living in fear of retaliation, slander, or blackmail.” In the same month, Manson was dropped by Loma Vista Recordings label, CAA, and longtime manager Tony Ciulla. Pheobe Bridgers also mentioned “r*pe room” while she visited Manson’s house with her teenage friends. Wood shared more harrowing details later in the month and Ellie Roswell also came in support of Wood and shared her awful experience with Manson backstage.

April 2021 – Esme Bianco sued Manson and his former manager for sexually assaulting her multiple times.

May 2022 – Rolling 1 year forward, a Los Angeles Superior Court Judge dismissed a lawsuit against Marilyn filed by Ashley Walters.

There are many other cases and reports filed against the actor other than the ones mentioned above. It has to be said that Marilyn Manson will be remembered as one of the most controversial figures in the history of Hollywood and the American music industry.
