Mary Millben is flying down to India, after her official invitation for performing on Independence Day. The artist is all ready to perform in the country.
Mary Millben, the African American singer is coming to India on the occasion of 75th Independence Day. This artist is globally known for her performance of ‘Jana Gana Mana’ and ‘Om Jai Jagdish Hare’. This artist has gotten a lot of recognition for this song.
This artist has been officially invited by the ICCR (Indian Council for Cultural Relations). She is the first American singer who has been invited to the Independence Day celebration.
Recently the artist has said ‘Following in the footsteps of Dr Martin Luther King Jr and his pilgrimage to India in 1959, I am honoured to represent the United States as a cultural ambassador for the 75th Anniversary celebration of India’s Independence,’
The artist is also going to perform at Indiaspora Global Forum in the country for the occasion.
The artist has shown her excitement by saying ‘I am thrilled to finally experience this treasured motherland, celebrate my meaningful relationship with India and Indian communities across the world, and highlight the important democratic alliance between the United States and India during this important observance of India’s Independence’. She also added ‘As I prepare for my first trip to India, my heart’s sentiments echo Dr King’s words, ‘to other countries, I may go as a tourist, but to India, I come as a pilgrim’
The artist opened the forum by singing the national anthem along with the profound piano player Lydian Nadhaswaram on the 10th of August. Lydian Nadhaswaram is a musician who hails from Chennai and has won the title of ‘The World’s Best’ and earned prize money of $1 million on CBS.
All these things are extremely helpful to maintaining a good term between these two countries. Along with that, it shows friendly behavior with each other.
This artist was first recognized after her performance of the national anthem of India at the 2020 independence celebration. And later on, she mesmerized everyone with her performance of ‘Om Jai Jagadish Hare’ on Diwali.
She is extremely excited to come to India and perform for the first time in the country. She is also planning to visit some of the places of India and said that she would love to visit Lucknow after Delhi in her India visit.
