Gloria Trevi, one of the most beloved pop stars of Mexico, has landed herself in a legal battle again over a sexual assault that happened in the early 1990s. She has once again been accused of “grooming” Two Jane Does who were underage girls for the benefit of her former producer Sergio Andrade. Two Jane Does have alleged that Gloria, now 54, and Sergio have used their “role, status, and power” to initiate sexual contact with them when their age was mere 13 years and 15 years respectively. This new complaint was filed shortly before December 31st, which was a deadline for the three-year “lookback” window. This temporarily lifted the statute of limitations on childhood sex assault claims in California.

The Mexican pop diva and her ex-producer, neither one of them is directly mentioned in the lawsuit, but according to the details, it is quite clear that they are going to be the top two defendants. The details included the concerts that Trevi played in the 1990s and albums that she recorded at that time.

According to the lawsuit, Two Jane Does mention that Trevi approached them when they were underage and manipulated and lured them into joining the music training program, purported by her former producer Andrade. The singer promoted this program as an opportunity that could make them into elite stars. The victims also claimed that the pop singer groomed them into being sex slaves for Andrade, and much of that abuse happened in Los Angeles county itself.

The lawsuit further states that by the time the girls were recruited the singer had already become a worldwide known persona and had gained international fame. Especially due to the edgy lyrics and her rebellious persona. At that time, Trevi was called Mexico’s Madonna, and her then-producer, Andrade was credited for the behind-the-scenes production. This was several years before the once famous and celebrated duo disappeared ahead of the bunch of sexual allegations from multiple former trainees in the program. The claims broke out to be an international scandal where Andrade was painted as a serial pedophile and Trevi, to be his willing accomplice.

In January of 200, the duo was arrested in Brazil after a successful international manhunt. Trevi has already spent four years in pre-trial detention which was ultimately acquitted when a judge overruled claiming there was insufficient evidence. In the previous lawsuit, there was not enough evidence that could support the allegations and charges which were filed for rape, kidnapping, and corruption of minors which was filed by the Mexican prosecutors. Although after four years of awaiting trial, the former producer of Trevi, Andrade was convicted of corruption of minors, rape, and kidnapping. But he only ended up spending one more year in jail. This new complaint calls for a trial by jury and the number of damages will be decided at the time of the trial.
