Bringing back the magic of punk rock of the 70s, Nick Lowe shares a new single ‘LAY IT ON ME’ off the upcoming EP ‘LAY IT ON ME’. The singer, songwriter and producer of massive hit albums in the past like ‘Nick Lowe & Straitjackets’ and ‘The Convincer’, has shared the date of releasing the full EP, which is on June 5, 2020. He dropped a brand-new single ‘LAY IT ON ME’ on 1st April that has collaboration with Nashville instrumental rock band Los Straitjackets. It is the third EP that he released while collaborating with Los Straitjackets. In 2019 he achieved broad ovation for the composition and production of ‘Love Starvation/Trombone’.
Growing up in the Middle East and Kent partly, Nick Lowe was always drawn to music that struck a chord with him since his childhood. It was no surprise when he gained punk rock influence while playing in different music bands in his high school. He successfully debuted with the first album Jesus of Cool, in 1978, making him a known face in the industry afterward. Then after many shortcomings, he came back with a bang in 1994 with the country album The Impossible Bird. Since then his life has become a movie, with a number of hit singles and Eps under his hood, he is now considered as an influential punk rocker and music producer in the industry.
The upcoming EP ‘LAY IT ON ME’ has a list of four songs including the one single he recently shared on all the streaming platforms. Other songs in the EP are titled as ‘Don’t Be Nice to Me’, ‘3. Here Comes That Feeling (Dorsey Burnette)’ and ‘Venus’. It took him back to the 70s when he described the genesis of the EP mentioning CBS had an inspiring idea; to invent the sampler LP.
