American rapper and singer Post Malone recently collaborated with Taylor Swift on a new song called ‘Fortnight‘. The single is accompanied by a music video featuring the two artists and is part of Swift’s eleventh studio album ‘The Tortured Poets Department’, released on 19th April. Now the rapper has penned a heartfelt post dedicated to Swift where he genuinely thanked her for giving him the latest work opportunity. He shared that he feels honored to work with the lyrical genius and tells everyone how it is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity that someone like Taylor Swift comes into the world.
Post took to Instagram to share this heartfelt message of gratitude to the ‘Cruel Summer’ singer. He paired his post with a black-and-white picture featuring both singers. In the photo Malone was seen wearing a white T-shirt, while Swift donned a full-sleeved black top, smiling at the camera. Post captioned his Instagram post, “It’s once in a lifetime that someone like @taylorswift comes into this world,” Malone wrote. “I am floored by your heart and your mind, and I am beyond honored to have been asked to help you with your journey (teary-eyed emoji) I love you so much. Thank you, Tay (two hearts emojis).”
Previously Taylor Swift also dedicated an appreciation note for the ‘Sunflower’ rapper. She shared the same picture that Post shared, which is also from their song cover ‘Fortnight’. She wrote, “The first single from The Tortured Poets Department is… Fortnight featuring @postmalone (heart emoji) I’ve been such a huge fan of Post because of the writer he is, his musical experimentation and those melodies he creates that just stick in your head forever. I got to witness that magic come to life firsthand when we worked together on Fortnight. Honestly can’t wait for you guys to hear this song at Midnight TONIGHT and see the video at 8pm ET TOMORROW.”
‘Fortnight’ is said to be the ‘Bad Blood‘ singer’s biggest collaboration of the year which explores the emotional fragility that comes after a short-lived romance. Fans speculate that this might be about Taylor’s short-lived romance with 1975 singer Matty Healy. The lyrics of the track focus on being in an emotionally fragile and vulnerable place after the relationship is over. In the song, Swift appears to be singing about a short-lived romance along with the hardships that come with it, especially while moving on from it. Since the singer unveiled the lyrics, the fans were quick to speculate. Some of them said that this was a direct dig at Matty Healy, with whom Taylor lived a short romance after exiting her 6-year-long relationship. On the other hand, some fans were quick to assume that this might be for Joe Alwyn, the British actor with whom she was in a long relationship for 6 years. While announcing the video, Taylor posted, “When I was writing the Fortnight music video, I wanted to show you the worlds I saw in my head that served as the backdrop for making this music. Pretty much everything in it is a metaphor or a reference to one corner of the album or another. For me, this video turned out to be the perfect visual representation of this record and the stories I tell in it.”
