Halsey confirmed that she is sampling Britney Spears in her upcoming single ‘Lucky’. Halsey’s song will be sampling the song from the ‘Oops…I Did It Again’ album.
Halsey is ready for the new Y2K pop era and so are we. The singer has teased their newest single ‘Lucky’, and the pop princess Britney Spears has a song with the same title in her hit ‘Oops…I Did It Again‘ album. Fans were quick to jump to speculations that either Halsey is sampling from Britney’s single or they are collaborating on this upcoming single. Seems like the first speculation is true as Halsey confirmed it. The singer-songwriter has posted on social media teasing her upcoming single. The singer-songwriter has just posted a video of herself singing and dancing to the forthcoming single. In the video, Halsey is seen singing “But I’m so lucky, I’m a star, but I cry, cry, cry in the lonely heart thinking, if there’s nothing missing in my life, then why do these tears come at night.”
This new single samples from Britney’s song of the same title that was released with her globally hit album ‘Oops…I Did It Again’. Halsey, acknowledging the fact, also shared a sweet message to honor the cultural icon that Britney Spears is. The ‘Without Me‘ singer captioned the post, “When I was 5, it always felt like Britney was singing directly to me. 24 years later, these words hit different. love you forever.” Britney’s song ‘Lucky’ was released 24 years ago on July 25, 2000. It was the second single from her second studio album and was a huge hit for the artist. The song tells the tale of a successful actress who has it all but still feels lonely and unhappy. The songwriters were Rami Yacoub, Alexander Kronlund, and Max Martin. “She’s so lucky, she’s a star / but she cry, cry, cries in her lonely heart, thinking / if there’s nothing missing in my life / then why do these tears come at night?” Britney sings in ‘Lucky’.

Now ‘Lucky’ is going to be on Halsey’s fifth studio album. It is unclear whether the meaning of the song will stay the same in Halsey’s version or they will change it to fit their narrative better. Halsey also recently released a heart-rending song called, ‘The End’. The ‘Colors’ singer revealed some serious health battles in the song. “In 2022, I was first diagnosed with Lupus SLE and then a rare T-cell lymphoproliferative disorder. Both of which are currently being managed or in remission; and both of which I will likely have for the duration of my life. After a rocky start, I slowly got everything under control with the help of amazing doctors. After 2 years, I’m feeling better and I’m more grateful than ever to have music to turn to. I can’t wait to get back where I belong: With you all Singing and screaming my heart out,” the musician wrote.
