BLACKPINK’S LISA has just announced her debut solo album ‘Alter Ego’. This album follows her previous singles ‘Rockstar’, ‘New Woman’ and ‘Moonlit Floor (Kiss Me)’.
The fans already know LISA. Now, get ready to meet her ‘Alter Ego’. This is going to be the title of LISA’s debut solo album, the musician announced. After weeks of teasing, the BLACKPINK singer and rapper finally announced that she is coming with her debut solo album, that too in just a few months. On November 19, Tuesday, the 27-year-old South Korean singer and rapper shared that her first LP is titled ‘Alter Ego’. Fans have been patiently waiting for this reveal alongside a cryptic timer on the artist’s website. The website also revealed that this first independent LP apart from her world-famous girl group BLACKPINK will be coming on February 28th. Along with the album’s name and arrival date, the K-pop artist also revealed the album’s cover art which features a picture of LISA in a hoodie looking directly at the camera and showing off her spiky black nails.
The Thai singer-rapper further hyped the fans on her LLOUD YouTube channel. On the channel, the singer dropped an album trailer of 3 minutes. This album trailer expands onto the teaser the South Korean musician dropped a few days earlier. In the album trailer, fans could see the artist’s eye color changing through the changing landscapes. The clip also featured the artist traveling from a black rock structure to a cyberpunk outer-space catwalk, along with a green laser-beam motorcycle track, a magical garden, and a volcanic red runway.
The album name announcement also came along with an official press release. The press release mentioned that these five locations on the album trailer represent the five characters LISA emulates on the album, “each representing a unique personality.” “They are represented by the five points on a star, which has become a key emblem in the campaign,” the press release further adds.
This upcoming new album will follow a run of a couple of singles that the artist put out in 2024. She began the year with the single ‘Rockstar’, reaching No. 70 on the Billboard Hot 100. This first single was followed by ‘New Woman’ with Rosalía and ‘Moonlit Floor (Kiss Me)’. According to sources, the artist has been planning the release of her debut solo album, even before the planned reunion of BLACKPINK in 2025. In the cover story for Billboard, LISA opened up about her perfectionism when it comes to her debut solo album.
“I’m trying to figure it out, the tracklist and everything, what I can change in there,” she said during the interview. “Everything’s there. I think they’re going to be shocked at how capable I am [at] doing so many things.”
At the same time, the singer also gushed about her BLACKPINK bandmates ROSÉ, JENNIE, and JISOO in her Billboard cover story. ROSÉ is also forging her solo music career this year. LISA mentioned, “We know each other so well and know how much energy we have to put into every single project.” “So we want to support and say, ‘You did really well!’ Like, JENNIE and Rosie just released their own songs, and we’re on texts, we’re on FaceTime. They’re like family,” she continued.
