Music artist and visionary creative Lady Gaga are all set to celebrate the 10th anniversary of her extremely successful album, Born This Way. She announced the release date to be on June 18 calling it the Born This Way The Tenth Anniversary Edition. The album will be featuring all of the 14tracksthat featured on her 2011 album by the same name. The record also exclusively comprises six additional tracks which are alternate versions of songs reimagined by advocates and artists belonging to the LGBTQIA+ community. The project will be released via Interscope Records and will mark yet another milestone in her career.
The alternate versions of various songs include a reimagined version of the hit song ‘Judas’, this time by Big Freedia who is a leader in the Bounce music genre and community. She has also shared her gratitude for being a part of the project saying, “Judas was my favorite song when it came out originally, so I wanted to cover it. I am beyond excited that it’s the first to drop from this project! To me, Judas is a love song about when someone does you dirty. I’ve sure had my experience with that. Who can’t relate?” While is this song is already released and available, the other five featuring artists are yet to be announced. However, the selected songs in the forthcoming album include “Marry The Night,” Highway Unicorn (Road To Love),” “Yoü and I,” “The Edge of Glory” and “Born This Way (The Country Road Version).”
It was only last week that West Hollywood Mayor Lindsey P. Horvath named May 23 Born This Way Day where Lady Gaga was presented with a key to the city. The multi-platinum selling artist shared in her acceptance speech the source of inspiration and motivation behind the making of the album and the title track. The title track has continued to be an empowering slogan often used across the LGBTQIA+ community over the years since it was released back in 2011. Lady Gaga shared, “Born This Way, my song and album, was inspired by Carl Bean, a gay black religious activist who preached, sung, and wrote about being ‘Born This Way.’ Notably, his early work was in 1975, 11 years before I was born. Thank you for decades of relentless love, bravery, and a reason to sing. So we can all feel joy because we deserve joy. Because we deserve the right to inspire tolerance, acceptance, and freedom for all.”
Stay tuned for yet another creative milestone.
