On December 12, Benedict ChiajulamIhesiba Jr. was admitted to the hospital following a self-inflicted gunshot wound. TMZ reports that police found him at his home with the firearm nearby after a neighbor called 911 to report hearing a gunshot. When officers arrived, he was unresponsive and was quickly transported to the hospital for surgery. Sources reported that Maco was in a coma as of Thursday, and his condition deteriorated critically. The hospital staff attempted to revive him but were unsuccessful. Furthermore, doctors struggled to obtain a clear scan of his brain after attempting to eliminate the toxins from the rapper’s body, according to The New York Post.
Maco was also involved in a car accident in 2016 that left him blind in his right eye. He was also diagnosed with a flesh-eating disease in 2019 that since has left several scars on both his face and body. OG Maco is considered a pioneer of trap rap, who has been in the scene dating back to 2011. To this date, the musician has only released one studio album ‘The God Of Rage’ in 2021. However, he has dropped well over 20 EPs and mixtapes, starting from 2011. The raper is most known for his 2014 viral hit ‘U Guessed It’. His manager Poppa Perc said to AllHipHop that Maco was “about rebrand and drop [new music] under a whole new alias”.
