Legendary rockabilly singer from Arkansas, Ronnie Hawkins died on May 29th at the age of 87. The musician has been suffering from illness for a long time. His wife Wanda confirmed the news of his death to The Canadian Press. She said that the artist died peacefully and looked the most handsome.
He had his own band named, The Hawks which he formed when he was studying at the University of Arkansas. Singer Rick Danko’s brother Terry Danko posted on Facebook that Hawkins, his bandmate of 15 years was removed from life support. He also said, ‘RIP my friend. Travel well, Ronnie. Say hey to the gathering of Hawks.’
In 2003, Hawkins was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and the doctors expected him to live only a few months. He sought alternative treatment for his illness. His journey was featured in a documentary called, ‘Ronnie Hawkins: Still Alive and Kickin’.
The iconic artist has two children, Ronnie Jr., Robin, and Leah. Many musicians expressed their grief and paid homage to the artist. Popular Metal artist Sebastian Bach posted on Twitter, ‘My sincere condolences to the family Leah and Robin who I used to jam with when I was 13 years old. Had a great day @Ronnie’s house years ago smoking with him & hanging out. I was so honored to meet the man. Heaven just got rompin’.
Johnny Depp makes a surprise guest appearance at Jeff Beck’s Sheffield gig
The concert-goers at Jeff Beck’s performance in Sheffield held on May 29th got a huge surprise when Johnny Depp made a guest appearance. He also performed with Beck covering Marvin Jimi Hendrix, Gaye, and John Lennon.
Depp is currently going through his defamation trial against ex-wife Amber Heard. After the trial on May 27th on Friday, he went to Sheffield for his performance. He not only played guitar but gave one of his finest vocal performances along with Beck on stage.
Amber Heard accused the actor of abusing her physically and verbally and filed for divorce from the actor in 2016.
Depp has been suing Amber Heard for defamation for an op-ed in Washington in 2018. In the article, Amber Heard wrote about surviving domestic violence. She referred to him as a ‘wife beater’ in the article.
K-pop star IU describes her role in the film ‘Broker’ as ‘overwhelming’
South Korean singer and actor Lee Ji-eun, better known by her stage name IU, has recently opened up about her character in the new movie, ‘Broker’.
The film was premiered at the 2022 Cannes Film Festival and received an incredible 12-minute-long standing ovation. In a press conference, she talked about her experience playing the role of a single mother in the movie.
She explained all the difficulties she faced while playing the character. She said, ‘It was challenging to portray So-young because she was a mother with such a dark and depressing past.’ She explained she was overwhelmed while playing the role of a mother as she did not have any experience in the aspect. She further said that when the camera started rolling, she just expressed her feelings that came naturally to the baby. She did not pressurize herself to feel more maternal love for the baby.
Despite all the challenges she faced, IU revealed that before she was offered the role of a single mother in the film, ‘Broker’, she herself was thinking of taking up a role of a mother or maternal character. She called her character ‘So-young’ ‘a special kind of mother’.
Kehlani is extending their ‘Blue Water Road Trip’ tour to New Zealand and Australia
Kehlani has decided to include Australia and New Zealand in their ‘Blue Water Road Trip’ world tour. After the success of their latest album, ‘Blue Water Road’, the artist will be going in January, next year. The tour will begin in Auckland, New Zealand. Next, they will go to Sydney, Perth, Melbourne, and Adelaide. The tour will end on January 31st in Perth.
Kehlani made an announcement about the tour earlier this month. Alongside the performances in Australia, the tour will be held in Europe, the UK, and North America as well.
‘Blue Water Road’ is the third studio album by Kehlani. Before her 2020 album, ‘It Was Good Until It Wasn’t’, the artist dropped singles from the album such as ‘Up At Night’ featuring Justin Bieber, ‘Altar’, and ‘Little Story.’
Kehlani’s Australia and New Zealand tour will begin on January 20th and end on January 31st.
