Ricky Kej Wins His Third Grammy this Year, Making Indians Proud

Bengaluru-based talented music composer Ricky Kej makes the nation proud by winning his Third Grammy this year. He has worked with rock legend Stewart Copeland for the project.

It is definitely a proud moment for Indians as well as the global music industry as Ricky Kej has won a Grammy this year. The Grammy Awards 2023 on Monday became memorable with Ricky winning the award for Best Immersive Audio Album category. The event was held at the Crypto.com arena in Los Angeles, USA.

This Bengaluru-based Indian music composer and producer have worked with musical legend Stewart Copeland for the project ‘Divine Tides’ which brought them this award. This music project is a tribute to the magnificence and significance of the natural world which is woven masterfully. This album consists of a total of nine songs and each portrays the brilliance of this musical duo.

There are also 8 music videos belonging to the songs which were recorded from different corners of the world. Starting from the exotic beauty of the Himalayan terrains to the icy forests of Spain, the videos offered a huge diversity just like the musical project itself.

At the time of nomination, Kej said, “It is an absolute honor to be nominated a second time for a Grammy Award for our album ‘Divine Tides’.” Last year at the Grammy Awards 2022, the artist won Grammy for the Best New Age Album with Copeland. Kej won his first Grammy for the album ‘Winds of Samsara’ (2015).

Kej further said “Although my music is cross-cultural, it has always had strong Indian roots and I am extremely proud that Indian music has been recognized and shortlisted for this prestigious award by The Recording Academy. This nomination encourages me further and solidifies my belief to continue making music that can inspire positive social impact” while talking about his musical roots.

Ricky Kej is the youngest Indian music artist to win Grammy Award and when it comes to listing, he is the fourth Indian to achieve this award. On the other hand, Stewart Copeland is one of the most versatile music artists and composers in the industry who have won the Grammy five times. He is also the founder and drummer of the British rock band ‘The Police’ which has sold over 75 million record albums worldwide.
